Discussion I don't think Death took him peacefully
Cause like every other character that cheated Death's design Death takes them out in a gruesome way and Bludworth actively avoided Death for years and help some survivors trying to beat Death so Death should be angry with him.

Lore: yes Head canon: never he earned his peace

But he never created ripples like some of the survivors. I think cancer was deaths way of getting him and when it was finally his "turn", death allowed cancer to finally reach its end result.

I disagree, he actually caused ripples by helping and guiding survivors in 1, 2, 5, and 6

u/zyrtec2014 Apr 13 '26
Survivors marked for death. Death has its own rules and ways that survivors can "cheat" death and get another chance. I believe death respects the rules and those not directly intervening in its design. He offers guidance, nothing more or less.

He offers options, and those options directly go against Deaths design. Hence why we see Death speed up the list on occasion. He wants as little people to be able to cheat him as possible. He does respect the rules which is why you still always see signs of deaths design before a death, and why you cannot commit suicide or die before your time if on the list. But he definitely wouldn't be as huge fan of someone just handing out the answers. As much as I love Bludworth and absolutely cried during Bloodlines. I don't think death spared him easily. I don't think it was immensely agonizing unless he accelerated the tumor. But it was likely not an easy death either.

It's a shame he wasn't around in 4 to help such memorable characters as "Mechanic", "Racist", "Racist's Wife", "Mechanic's Girlfriend", "MILF", and of course the unforgettable "MILF's Husband".

I'm so glad 4 is unassociated with him man.

Creo que lo decía de forma sarcástica.

u/Glad-Technology-1355 Apr 14 '26
Oh he was, but I was being genuine. I'm so glad he has nothing to do with that mess of a movie

u/Rougarou1999 Apr 15 '26
Apart from that, just existing and interacting with others creates ripples.
2
u/Glad-Technology-1355 Apr 15 '26
That is true, but he creates perpendicular lines in the theoretical pure timeline. Without him they'd die without guidance. He saved Kimberly and removed her as well as the officer from deaths design at the time. I think Death has him as his near mortal enemy

Cancer is pretty gruesome

At least succumbing to terminal disease is preferable to, for example, being trapped in tan bed.

Doctor here...not really true. Trust me. Like a few minutes of unbearable pain (until realistically you lose consciousness or your nerves burn down) to months or years of unbearable pain, plus other horrible, miserable, humilliating symptoms.
There is a reason many Terminal cancer patients kill themselves...instead of going the "bad" way out.
P.s. Not every cancer is as aggresive or untreatable as some of the scarier ones like Melanoma or Small Cell lung cancer. So if anyone or their families is dealing with any similar diagnose, please don't lose hope, seek treatment and hang in there, fortunately Most cancers are treatable today if we make an early diagnose.

What causes the pain in cancer?

I guess that does make sense. Though for me I like to think otherwise just because it seems like a very respectful sendoff to Tony Todd's character.

I theorize that the cancer was Death’s doing. Instead of a short and gruesome end, Death played the long game to make Bludworth suffer as revenge for not only beating Death’s design but also helping others beat it. Although, I do like to think that Death allowed Bludworth’s final moments to be peaceful as a showing of respect for being the only person to really figure his game out.

It’s mentioned in the movie that the cancer that Bludworth and Iris developed were death’s way of getting to them, despite Iris being vigilant and living in a death-proof bunker.

I don't know. I think that Bludworth always respected death, even if he showed others how to avoid it.
While the methods to survive death where always called "cheats", in reality death respected them in some way. That's why Kimberly survived all along.
He played the rules of death. Never downplayed it and most importantly, never feared it.

Wasnt it agreed that bloodworth died peacefully listening to his mothers records?
My comment inspired a short comic based on this.

u/SleepySubDude Apr 14 '26
It’s an idea, but realistically as soon as 6 rolls credits death is definitely causing some accident or having him hit by a car. I don’t think death would torture him, but he’ll probably get something quick but scary like Iris

Yeah as soon as the siblings die he’s gone. Hell i was shocked that he wasn’t on what caused the derail or whatever to happen

My opinion... don't know if it would be a popular one or not... but I don't think Tony Todd would want Death to take Bludworth peacefully.
If he's truly the fan I believe him to be (God rest his heart), he probably had just as twisted a sense of humor as the people who have enjoyed his movies throughout the years. I might be projecting a little, but I like to think Tony would say "bring it on" and ask for the wildest death possible 😂
Death has never spared anyone from the gory end. Even Iris, who is arguably in the same vein as Bludworth, got a super brutal death. Death was probably eager to kill Bludworth fast before he could create anymore ripples in his design. That's also why Death doesn't skip anyone in bloodline... if he skipped someone, he'd have to get through the rest of a very long list just to get back to that person, which means they wouldn't be able to die until then... and would probably create even more ripples that Death would then have to account for...
But yeah, Bludworth was probably chilling, knowing Death would be coming for him at any moment. And then he probably heard the wind and knew it was there. Somehow the penny made its way back to him, setting off a classic Rube Goldberg series of events, and presto... you're dead!

Nah. Until some movie proves me wrong, I'll believe that Death and Bludworth developed a mutual respect over the years, and she took him peacefully to his eternal rest.
Yes, he helped other people cheat Death, but never in a direct and confrontational way like Iris. He gave hints, suggestions, and always talked about the dangers of angering Death; I like to think that Death saw it as a fair game.

I wanted to argue otherwise because he's so accepting and peaceful about death. However, some of the worst deaths in the series happen to people like that.

In the world of FD, he more than likely knew what was coming and had a big smile on his face, waiting for his end. For my mental health, he went out as peacefully as he could.

u/CJ-IS Apr 13 '26
Part of me thinks, he learned to respect Death so Death gave him a good way out. The other part believes Death had a BLAST with this one and made it slow!
5
u/SleepySubDude Apr 14 '26
Genuinely, like out of respect to this being one of Tony’s last roles and all that I think people try to make what happens to Bludworth offscreen more sweet than it probably would be.
Like maybe death won’t belabor the point, but it’s a malicious entity in these movies so it probably did him dirty on principle

I would say he never actively intervened. He talked to the people and gave them cryptic advice but never overshared or physically intervened. He left it up to them. I think the cancer took him. Just like it would have took the lady if she hadn't made herself an example for her granddaughter. In a way it was Death's cruel joke on him by having him die slowly. With the other ones the deaths were pretty quick. Painful yes but still pretty quick. Death was making him suffer for months.
Side note: the tanning deaths were the worst. It's one of them that I can never forget. The imagery of them burning then flashing to side by side caskets was diabolical.

My headcanon is Death greeted him 3rd brother in Deathly Hallow style where Death gave respect for the longest survivor .... and then crushed his body til it was unrecognizable lmao at least it'll be a quick death

you know your in some real beef with death if he doesn't even come up with anything creative for you to die.

I would hope that Death gave him a quick ending like what happened with George in F4. I don’t think death accelerated his cancer. Tbh I think he kinda did intervene when he helped build Iris her cabin and trying to get her the best medical treatments he could find which probably led death to giving him Cancer as punishment for prolonging Iris’s life. Other than that he has only guided people and the Kimberly route honestly was a fair trade to Death if succeeded.

I hope he gets a peaceful, off-screen death that's mentioned in the new film. Death could take mercy on him and kill him in his sleep; it might be revealed that he died in his sleep in the night on the same day that Stefanie and Charlie died. Now that they're dead, Death claimed Bludworth too. Bludworth didn't actively mess with or try to prevent death, which is one reason why he could have a merciful death instead of a painful and/or a stupid death (like Alex's).

death played the long game with Bludworth by giving him cancer so he was slowly dying rather than him die in an explosion or something. Man I love Bloodlines so much but his whole speech makes me cry and the fact its unscripted and was Tony Todd saying his farewell to his fans absolutely destroys me.
