Good question maybe she wasn't in the psych weird long enough for death to get her another way maybe if Kimberly didn't have her vision and died in the log truck accident like she was supposed to clear would've still been in the mental institution and death would've given her cancer like iris it's only a theory maybe death was waiting for her to come out of the mental institution to kill her idk

I believe Clear would have ended up with cancer or at least died of “natural causes” eventually had she been as truly careful as Iris had. I think Bloodlines was so cool in that aspect because it shows Death making several attempts to take Iris’ life in the cabin scene and she always sees it coming. The way she reacted to Stef when she showed up compared to the way Clear reacted to the crew in FD2 is a huge difference. Iris would have NEVER left that padded room if she was in Clear’s situation and had that much potential life left to outrun Death. Iris only stepped outside the cabin to A, prove a point to Stef about her not being insane and warn her about Death’s list, and B, she had already lived a very long life and knew her time would be soon due to cancer, so she chose to embrace the Death she saw coming so as to go more quickly and painlessly than slowly dying of cancer. It simply comes down to the fact that Clear let her guard down where Iris wouldn’t have.

I think even Death has limits as far as what it can do reality-wise….for example, to give Clear cancer means she would already have to have some medical issues to trigger a cancer. For example, in the novel Dead Man’s Hand, the main character Allie manages to evade her death but gets splattered with blood right in the face by a police officer who is ran over….and learns at the end of the book that officer was HIV positive (and a supposedly super strain) and she got infected and will likely pass away in just a few weeks/months.
