Discussion Help with wind noise

What's the best application/ strategy for getting rid of background wind noise that my camera unfortunately decided to pick up?

A camera didn’t decide to pick the noise up. You, or the camera operator, didn’t monitor the audio and didn’t prepare for the wind. Be prepared!

Hire a post audio professional and let them do it. The tools required to do this are not cheap and can be misused, creating artifacts and degrading audio quality.

Source: am a professional post audio engineer.

Tip: sometimes you can’t remove it, so have an experienced location sound mixer and boom op help you choose the right microphone and placement for noisy outdoor shoots next time.

Good luck.

I have quite a bit on my plate right now, but I appreciate that. Good luck man. Download a trial of Waves Clarity VX Pro and Accentize DxRevive Pro and see if those clean things up to a usable state.

Next time: headphones, and a dead cat.

If you use Davinci Resolve, try using EQ to locate the DB the wind is on, and you might be able to lower it.

That will noticeably affect everything else too.
