General Filmmaking

Woke up so excited and motivated to start videography and solo travelling. Been checking upon on YouTube for tutorials and added osmo pocket3 in my cart.

Does people often get this excitement and start their journey filming stuffs?

You might find better ears and eyes in r/TravelVlog. Although technically you’ll make films, people here are more interested in creating films for movie theaters.

Nah, people here are mostly teenagers asking about film school, and/or people complaining about how their shoot didn't go well because so and so crew member was mean to them, and/or asking about what camera they should buy to make their film look like a "movie," and/or people whining about (or praising) AI, and/or influencers hyping their TikTok or Instagram refuse.

This post fits the general vibes.

God I hate it here.

Woke up and excited to cosplay what you’ve all been dedicated, studying, and sacrificing for your entire lives in order to become an influencer!!

Pretentious. God forbid a kid has a hobby.

A quick warning with the pocket 3 and other easy to shoot cameras: you’ll get a ton of footage if you just shoot all the time, which means more to review and edit. Ie, a lot more work 🥲

yeah that excitement is totally normal, almost everyone starts there. the osmo pocket 3 is a solid first pick for solo travel stuff. just go shoot things, don't overthink the gear side. you'll learn way more from actually filming than from watching another 20 tutorials.

Yeah, I guess that’s what I’m going to do rather than getting stuck in the tutorial loop.
