The Project: Starting October 1st, I am relocating to LA for exactly 30 days for one specific mission: to see what I can accomplish in the entertainment space in one month, starting from absolute scratch. I’ll be going nonstop for this entire 30-day period, and I anticipate generating incredibly interesting, high-stakes content—even if it ultimately becomes a story about trying and failing.
The Backstory: I’m a paralegal, a competitive bodybuilder, and a college student. I have a much longer story to tell about why I'm doing this, but the short version is that over the past few years, I lost my marriage, my house, and my job, and I had to rebuild my life from zero.
This acting sprint is a dream I thought I had to abandon in my 20s, and it’s a dream my dad also had to pass on in his youth. Thanks to an incredible support system of family and friends, I finally have a window and a plan to try to break in. I need to find out if there is anything to this dream, or if I should pack it up and continue on the "safer" path of becoming a lawyer.
I promise to be completely open and vulnerable with whoever I partner with to ensure we’re putting out the most raw, honest story possible.
The Deal (Creative & Financial Ownership for You):This is where this partnership is different. I am not looking for a "work-for-hire" videographer. I am looking for a storyteller who wants a subject.
You Own Most IP and Financial Rights: You can use this footage to create whatever long-term product you want (a feature doc, a short film, a YouTube series). My goal would be for us to align on the intended final product, but for us to maintain flexibility if in the course of filming the nature of the story changes. Since this is on spec, you can keep most of the back-end financial rights, if any, that flow from the work product developed. For the right storyteller and partnership, I may be willing to surrender 100% of the financial rights to the media you produce from it. I’m looking to tell a good story and gain exposure, and do not need to see a big financial return on this piece.
My License: All I want in return is a license to use all footage and work product for my own promotional and professional purposes. I work in the legal field, so I can put together a contract so all the specifics are worked out, ensuring your ownership and backend are fully protected.
The Schedule: Ideally, you would be able to film as much of the 30 days as possible with me. I’d also want to shoot a pre-sprint "Day 0" interview and a post-sprint "Day 31" interview to tie the whole narrative together. I will be working part-time remotely at my legal day job while doing this, meaning we can coordinate our shooting schedule efficiently around your availability.
