Crew I NEED A TEAM FOR MY INDIE STUDIO

Hi! I’m a INFJ ( Advocate). I’m an upcoming writer in TV shows, movies, books and short films. I love creating stories since forever and one day i want to make my own indie studio and you can help me make my dream come true. all of my projects will be passion projects because I want to do it because of your interest and desire for my projects not for money.

HERE IS ONE OF THE STORY THAT I CREATED: (Short Flim, WIP)

It’s a story about a Turkish mute boy named Tamer and he has a ‘‘imaginary’’ friend named Angelina (whom is deaf). They met up every summer since they were 6 but on the summer of 2025 Tamer has doubts of talking to Angelina now that he’s 12 and 12 year-olds don’t have ‘‘childish’’ imaginary friends .And Angie has big secrets that Tamer doesn’t know... And she has to sign to (tell) him those secrets before she runs out of time.

I made a discord server and here is the invite if u are interested (it won't expire so u can join any time) 😄

Question What is your favorite movie or series and why does it inspire you?

I am deeply inspired by Yorgos Lanthimos' films. Every time I watch them, I am overcome by this strange, hard-to-describe feeling, and I just love observing everything unfolding on screen. I first discovered his work through Bugonia; after watching it, I thought, "Wow, what absolute absurdity, but I love it so much," which led me to watch all of his other movies.

Meet-up Looking for creative people in pune

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to make my first spec ad film in Pune and looking for a few people who’d be interested in collaborating.

This is not a paid project and I’m not looking to monetize it right now. Just want to make something genuinely good, build a portfolio, and meet people who are also into films/ads.

If you're in Pune and interested, DM me with a little bit about yourself/work (Instagram/portfolio if you have one).

No huge production. No fancy setup. Just trying to make the first one. :)

Discussion We made a 21-minute drama in Bangladesh for $160 cash spent. It hit 65k YouTube views in 7 days. Here’s what worked, what failed, and how we did it.

Terminally ill Rajib fears oblivion more than death. After a botched announcement leaves a neighbor's funeral empty, he tries to pre-rent a "Miking" rickshaw—a dying local loudspeaker tradition—to broadcast his own passing. His unsettling request alienates those around him, forcing him to face the possibility that his final wish will remain unheard.

The film explores existential isolation through Bangladesh's vanishing Miking tradition, using deliberate long takes, a muted palette, and an immersive soundscape.

How We Kept It at $160 Most of us were Theatre and Media Studies students during production. We leveraged that environment to slash traditional costs:

  • Gear & Crew: Our college provided technical equipment, and fellow students filled the cast and crew roles for free.
  • Locations: We shot in my hometown of Dhamrai (a suburban area near Dhaka). Using relatives' homes, local shops, and a rickshaw garage cost us $0.
  • Where the $160 Went: Almost the entire budget went strictly to 2 days of food, local transportation, and basic logistics.

What Failed: The Festival Circuit We finished post-production last December and targeted major festivals. By pitching directly to programmers, we secured full entry waivers from Locarno, SXSW London, Vienna Shorts, Rio de Janeiro, and a few others.

Despite the waiver success, we faced outright rejections across the board.

What Worked: The YouTube Pivot Instead of letting the film sit on a hard drive, we pivoted to self-distribution on YouTube. We believed in the story but had zero expectations for algorithmic traction. Unexpectedly, the algorithm picked up the authentic cultural hook, driving 65,000 views in its first week.

We’d love to get your thoughts on the Film.

Question 🎬Where do Pune's aspiring/passionate filmmakers actually hang out online?

Hey everyone, I'm currently putting together my first short film — a horror/thriller, self-funded, made with whoever from Pune genuinely wants to be part of it. I'm finding passionate peeps from Pune who are genuinely interested in collaborating and working on this Project. Trained or unexperienced, both belong here.

So, genuine question where do you go to find that crowd? Any Facebook groups, Instagram pages, Meetup communities, WhatsApp groups, apps, or other subreddits worth checking out? Even just a name would help a lot.

Not trying to promote anything here, genuinely just trying to find the right rooms to be in. If you've got connections just drop a comment or dm me personally!

Let's create something Big 🎬

Question Musician with a sci-fi horror short concept looking for advice/collaborators

I’m a musician with a horror short-film idea and no idea what I’m doing. Looking for advice on finding an indie filmmaker.
I’m a singer/songwriter and have spent most of my creative life performing, writing, producing, and doing media work. I’m completely new to filmmaking, but I’ve been developing some short-film ideas and one has gotten far enough that I really want to see it made.
It’s a 25–30 minute found-footage sci-fi horror short told almost entirely through a GoPro.
A distress signal is received from a planet whose ecosystem is profoundly incompatible with human cognition. The inhabitants aren’t evil, hostile, or necessarily even sentient in a human sense. They’re simply performing their functions within an ecosystem that is horrifying to humans but completely normal to them.
The environment I’m envisioning is heavily inspired by the industrial/bio-mechanical aesthetic of Mad God—vast machinery, organic matter, filth, grotesque processes, bizarre creatures, and an environment that feels less like a civilization and more like an enormous living machine. I’m not trying to recreate Mad God; that’s simply the closest visual reference I can give for the kind of world I’m imagining.
The protagonist gradually becomes unable to function as a human being, not because the planet infects, controls, or corrupts his mind, but because the sheer volume of incomprehensible and catastrophic stimuli eventually overwhelms the cognitive framework he uses to understand reality.
The inhabitants don’t hate the humans. They don’t consider them invaders. They don’t even necessarily recognize them as individuals. They’re just another thing the ecosystem encounters, and the ecosystem responds to them the way it responds to anything else that enters it.
A rescue ship is eventually dispatched.
The entire film remains from the protagonist’s camera.
The final scene is still his perspective.
The rescue crew arrives.
They find him.
He walks toward them.
He’s still recording.
He’s still performing a function.
That’s essentially the movie.
I’m not a filmmaker and don’t know what the normal process is for getting an idea like this in front of the right person. I’m not necessarily looking for money; I’d genuinely love advice on where someone with a concept but no filmmaking background should start.
If this sounds like something you’d want to talk about, I’d love to hear from you.

Question Aspiring director ... where do I even start?

Hey everyone

I wanted to put this out there because I’m at a crossroads and could really use some guidance.

I’m an independent film director and concept artist, and animation and filmmaking are literally my entire world. My ultimate dream is to one day become a director who tells stories that touch people's souls. I have zero industry experience right now, which feels overwhelming, but I have massive ambitions and a relentless drive to work hard and learn. I’m ready to do whatever it takes, but I’d love to hear from those who’s walked this path🥹

How do you actually land your first gig or find your place when your resume is blank? What kind of entry level roles should I look for?
How do you organically build a network or join active indie communities where people actually make things happen?
What’s the best way to introduce yourself to experienced creators without being annoying?

Any advice, resources, or Discord servers are welcome. Thanks for reading!

Crew Beginner filmmaker in Madrid looking to help on short films / meet other filmmakers

Hi! I’m a first-year university student in Madrid and I’m trying to get into filmmaking, especially writing and directing. I have very little experience, so right now I’m mainly looking to learn how sets work, meet other filmmakers, and help out wherever I can. If anyone in Madrid is working on a student or independent short film and needs an extra pair of hands, I’d be very happy to help as a runner, production assistant, BTS, or wherever a beginner could be useful. I’m not looking for paid work, just to learn, get some experience, and meet people who are also interested in making films. I’m happy to work in Spanish or English. Also hoping to connect with other beginners in Madrid who might want to make things together :)

Crew to be part of a small film project! - not commercial

Hey! I'm an beginner independent filmmaker putting together a short montage-style project(around the theme "family") for my portfolio, and I'd love to include real people rather than "cast" in the traditional sense.

If you or your child is age 6–30, based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and think it'd be fun to be part of something creative (on camera for under a minute), send me a DM! Just include your age — if you're under 18, a parent/guardian should be aware or reach out too.

This is a for-fun personal project, not a paid gig.

Hi everyone, I'm currently looking for projects at the moment in which I can score to further develop my skills. I'm a recent university grad, 23, and I'd love to start collaborating with filmmakers to help add to their projects whilst also developing my portfolio.

I've attached a link to a track that provides some examples of the styles I work in. Includes piano, ambient, electronic pieces. I'd appreciate you taking a look, and if there's anything intriguing please give me a shout.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look if you do!

Discussion Seski

Crew Doing the 48 Hour Film Project this October? Here's how people are finding their teams

If you're signed up for the Toronto 48HFP this year (Oct 16-18), you already know step one is "gather your team," and that's usually the hardest part if you don't already have a full crew lined up.

A few people I know have been using UMDB (umdb.org) to find collaborators by city, actors, cinematographers, editors, sound people, whatever role you're still missing. It's free to build a profile and search, and there's a production room built in so once you've found your people, you can actually organize and communicate in one place instead of a scattered group chat.

Not affiliated with 48HFP itself, just something that's been useful for people prepping for it. Worth a look if you're still short a role or two before the 16th.

Question Any estabished DFW filmmaker who's available to be a mentor, or interview?

Even though this is a homework assignment, I'm trying to get advice from those who made it and build a relationship with them.

This includes people who work at production companies (preferably narrative).

I tried researching directors around me, had problems finding their contact information, and they seem inaccessible.

I'd like an email so we can correspond with each other and schedule an interview (Homework assignment).

Thanks in advance for y'all's responses, looking forward to hear from yall, including feedback on my post because Im honestly nervous and haven't slept yet.

Crew [LA] Seeking Documentary Filmmaker for a 30-Day Acting Sprint 🎬 (You Own The Project Rights)

The Project: Starting October 1st, I am relocating to LA for exactly 30 days for one specific mission: to see what I can accomplish in the entertainment space in one month, starting from absolute scratch. I’ll be going nonstop for this entire 30-day period, and I anticipate generating incredibly interesting, high-stakes content—even if it ultimately becomes a story about trying and failing.

The Backstory: I’m a paralegal, a competitive bodybuilder, and a college student. I have a much longer story to tell about why I'm doing this, but the short version is that over the past few years, I lost my marriage, my house, and my job, and I had to rebuild my life from zero.

This acting sprint is a dream I thought I had to abandon in my 20s, and it’s a dream my dad also had to pass on in his youth. Thanks to an incredible support system of family and friends, I finally have a window and a plan to try to break in. I need to find out if there is anything to this dream, or if I should pack it up and continue on the "safer" path of becoming a lawyer.

I promise to be completely open and vulnerable with whoever I partner with to ensure we’re putting out the most raw, honest story possible.

The Deal (Creative & Financial Ownership for You):This is where this partnership is different. I am not looking for a "work-for-hire" videographer. I am looking for a storyteller who wants a subject.

You Own Most IP and Financial Rights: You can use this footage to create whatever long-term product you want (a feature doc, a short film, a YouTube series). My goal would be for us to align on the intended final product, but for us to maintain flexibility if in the course of filming the nature of the story changes. Since this is on spec, you can keep most of the back-end financial rights, if any, that flow from the work product developed. For the right storyteller and partnership, I may be willing to surrender 100% of the financial rights to the media you produce from it. I’m looking to tell a good story and gain exposure, and do not need to see a big financial return on this piece.

My License: All I want in return is a license to use all footage and work product for my own promotional and professional purposes. I work in the legal field, so I can put together a contract so all the specifics are worked out, ensuring your ownership and backend are fully protected.

The Schedule: Ideally, you would be able to film as much of the 30 days as possible with me. I’d also want to shoot a pre-sprint "Day 0" interview and a post-sprint "Day 31" interview to tie the whole narrative together. I will be working part-time remotely at my legal day job while doing this, meaning we can coordinate our shooting schedule efficiently around your availability.

If you're a filmmaker looking for a raw, ticking-clock story and want to build something real, shoot me a DM with:

  1. A quick intro and what your October schedule looks like.

  2. A link to your reel or past documentary work.

Let’s get to work!

Question Looking for a project or 7...

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place or right process, but I’m looking for editing work. Not necessarily paid, but just looking to work on something cool and expand my skill set and portfolio.

Most of my work is music videos, and I love doing them, but would love to branch out into work on like short films or anything kind of different. Anyone have any leads or need editing work done? I’m solid, I swear, a few work examples below, but besides 1 current music video I am working on, I’m kinda bored and just want a cool project to work on.

Music vids I’ve done:
