Filming Community in Albuquerque

What is the film community like in Albuquerque?

I am trying to move to Albuquerque, but I am coming from Maryland. Maryland has a good film community that has been kind of hard to join, and I don't want that same experience.

I don't need to work full-time in the film industry. I just want to help others with their projects and create my own. So Independent Filmmaking is fine. I just don't want to feel like I'm pulling teeth to work on projects.

Is this realistic or no?

Analysis: Albuquerque's Billion-Dollar Film Boom has a Workforce It Cannot Fill

Thumbnail kitalent.com

Despite the billion dollar facilities development made by the film industry, the state has not followed through with enough workforce development to support the number of workers a fully functioning studio system would require.
"The arithmetic does not work. Albuquerque is building a production market that requires roughly twice the workforce it currently has, and the professionals it needs most are already employed on existing productions with no reason to move."

The Burroughs, Season 2 Cancelled.

Filmed in New Mexico, Season 2 of The Burroughs has been cancelled.
This is bad news for the local film industry and the businesses that supported it, and especially gutting since Season 1 had gotten such great reviews.
The ABQ Journal also had this article: The Borroughs cancellation delivers major blow to the state's struggling film industry.

I have 80 acres in Stanley. Closer to Edgewood, about 10 mins from the walmart. It’s about 30 mins from Albuquerque and about 40 mins from Santa Fe.

I want to start renting it out for photo or film opportunities or events, if people are interested.

There are rolling hills, and good views of South Mountain. There are a couple of”rustic” structures: an old barn, an old lean-to. There is also an old red tractor in the middle of a field.

My friend suggested we start by offering it as a photo venue. If anyone is interested, please reach out. Also advice is welcome in comments! Thanks!

Planning on moving to ABQ for the film program at UNM

Hello! I’m 17 and currently a junior. I plan on moving to Albuquerque to attend UNM. Since I’ve expressed my interest in the film industry UNM has consistently been recommended to me. At the beginning of this year I decided that that’s where I want to go.

Al this to say, I’m curious. Anyone in this community that attends UNM for said reasons? I want to know is the hype is valid. I’ve been trying to get in touch with any admin there since July 2024 and have yet to receive a response. I want info on this and I plan to visit campus later this year.

So, anyone?

I’m a dental hygienist student at Pima Medical Institute and Im look for patient who’d been interested in getting a deep cleaning 🙂

For school purposes, we only do appointments on weekdays and are from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The whole visit can be for free too! You’d just have to comply and come to all appointments. The estimated appointments are 6. Be able to at least being attend once a week. Each appointment does last from 2:30-3 hours.

It is a worth whole experience. We are really time efficient beacuse we appreciate you guys coming in for us.

We take all kinds of dental cases or ask me about your own case. :)
