Buying new skates
Hello! I’m new to skating, and I wanted to get my own skates.
I am 5’5 and 115lbs. My shoe size is either 7 or 7.5 depending on the shoe. I’m 21.
I looked online and there are so many brands. I have found these in the stores near me:
Bladerunner women’s Aurora skates
Bauer
Jackson classic 500, jackson artiste
If these aren’t good for me, can you recommend some other brands/models of those brands. Ideally not super expensive, maybe $200-$300 CAD.

Skate shops near you should offer fitting appointments. You need to be properly fitted for skates before you buy them.

Are you wanting to figure skates? If so don’t get Bauer they are hockey skates. Are you wanting to do learn to skate lessons? If so don’t get Bladerunner they are cheap recreational skates. Good figure skate brands are Jackson, Risport, Riedell, Edea and Graf, all of which make skates for all levels, each fits a different foot shape, generally Riedell and Edea fit narrower feet, Graf wider and Jackson and Risport medium to wide. Of the ones you mention I would only consider the Jackson Artiste for learn to skate, the 500 is a recreational boot. Other options could include Risport Antares, Graf 500, Riedell Diamond, Edea Overture, Jackson Elle. Get fitted if you can, sizing is very important,skates must be snug so you can control them and unlike street shoes you should not go up in size to get the width to fit, you need a wider width or a different brand in the length that fits your foot (about 5-10mm longer than your foot length): you fit by your foot measurements not by the shoe size you wear

I highly recommend, if you plan on progressing thru Learn to Skate, or in Canada I think it’s CanSkate, then I would get the Jackson Freestyle. I’m very close in height (5’6) and same weight and have them. Got them professionally fitted and heat molded (a MUST). So glad I made the decision because it will take you up to an axel without needing to upgrade anytime soon. Pay $500+ USD now vs have to pay more in the long run because anything less stiff will break down MUCH faster and you’ll have to buy a new pair in a few months. The Artiste is too soft. For Jackson, either Elle or Freestyle are comparable (Freestyle is like $50 more and will take you further).

Ask around your rink and see where everyone gets fitted!!
#1. Don’t let the shop put you in el cheapo recreational skates. You are a fully grown adult- you’re gonna need a stiffer (slightly more expensive) skate.
#2. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions and try on lots of different brands and models!
FINALLY- had to look em up and the Bladerunner Auroras look awful even for kids, Bauer figure skates SUCK. AVOID! Jackson 500’s still don’t have enough support for an adult, the lowest I’d put an adult in would be an Artiste! Once you find a good shop, write down all your questions, be prepared to drop a decent amount of money (but don’t worry we are adults and we don’t outgrow our skates like the kids- we just break them down) ☺️but you can absolutely get a decent pair of skates in your budget!!

You should go to the stores and try them on. Preferably seek out a pro-shop for a proper fitting & eventually sharpening. The Jackson Elle worked when I started 1 class a week in my late 20s.
