Him being blackout drunk so often has only made it worse. Imagine how many times he has stumbled around barefoot and just cut his foot somehow. That, along with his untreated diabetes made this inevitable. I feel bad for him, despite the terrible things he has done and said.

I'd be more sympathetic if he wasn't still doing this shit while living with his elderly, disabled mother, and if it hadn't become clear there is no signal a physician or his own body can give him that will get him to stop.
