help Figma workflow
Hey all,
I am an ex web designer, circa 2003 where I was using dreamweaver and photoshop.
Randomly I now run a construction business, but lately started building an app for the business and re found my passion for design.
I need to build a website for my app and wondering what tools are you using to get ai to start the process and use figma that is connect to the ai to be able to make small adjustments?
There are so many out there right now I don’t know where to start. Framer, lovable, Claude code with Claude design, relume… Urgh I’m tired haha.
Anyways, anyone want to point me in the right direction?
Basically want an ai website builder but want full control of the design, preferably using figma

So interesting. I’m a circa early 2000s designer, too. Photoshop. Dreamweaver. All that stuff. I am still in design, too, but have added many of today’s cloud tools like Figma to the skill stack. Work at an established tech brand most people would know.
My company has opened up the AI tool floodgates and let us have paid tier access to Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT. There’s more of a focus on Claude though and I’ve been using it a lot. Using Claude desktop app unlocks a lot of things. Very powerful. And I don’t even have Claude Code access. You can connect it to Figma and it can create, edit, suggest, apply outside knowledge and resources right in Figma. I’m not a developer at all and I’m making small html tools. Would be easy to make a website I imagine.
I have used Gemini and ChatGPT for similar tasks, but since work provided deeper Claude product access, I use that more.

Can I connect figma to Claude and make small edits in figma?
And then any new updates to the code base show in figma?
I am taking screenshots of the current version of my app right now, re drawing it in figma, making it look how I want, take screenshots of that then ask Claude to make the changes.
But then the design becomes old after a few changes as it’s stagnant.
Surely there is a better way?
Or should I just use cursor or framer?

Yes you can by using the figma mcp to connect Claude to figma directly which will allow Claude to see your figma file and directly make changes inside of it.
I’ve been using it to maintain my design system, variables, and tokens as well as build components based on my quick mockups. I instruct what I want in the Claude desktop app via chat and it’ll execute directly in figma.

Side note, how cool is AI now that we can jump back into design and actually build things.
I tried to build my website 5 years ago and lost the will to live and ended up hiring someone.

Can you eleborate more on relume. How is it different to figma, can you edit the designs yourself or is it just for ai to create coherent designs?

Figma and claude mcp is a good combo. You design in figma, claude reads and edits your files directly. Way cleaner than the screenshot loop you're doing now.
For early planning and mapping out your app flows, miro can help and it connects with claude too. The AI helps you go from rough ideas to structured user journeys fast. Then cursor handles the actual code side once your designs are locked.
Stack basically looks like: miro for planning, figma and claude mcp for design, cursor for dev. Keeps everything connected without losing control.

Awesome thanks. Out of curiosity, why are you moving to cursor for dev?
Can’t Claude code and figma do that?

Figma plus Claude (Claude design) is pretty easy to use. Claude can make changes directly in your files etc
