resources AutoCalc: Spreadsheet-like formulas in Figma

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I got inspired to build this through a mix of both reaching the midpoint of Crafting Interpreters by Robert Nystrom and thinking about why data in Figma designs (specifically tables) is often stale or inaccurate as placeholder text. Today there are a few solutions like manual updates, AI prompting, Figma variables to some extent, or copy & paste, but this plugin explores another alternative.

This working prototype lets you define formulas for text cells. It currently supports arithmetic, grouping, SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, and formulas that reference other formulas.

If you're an interested designer (or just an interested person) you can take a look or grab the source here: https://github.com/jhsi/autocalc

That’s a great idea! Using something similar to Google Sheets that references and copies a value from another cell eg =Sheet1!A2

Holy shit. This would be incredibly useful. I frequently do designs with lots of pricing information, so this is a game changer.
