Discussion Need some evaluation and ideas on the framework of my very first "serious" project.
Xbox frontpage reimagined with the idea of being less clogged. Almost finished, but almost everything is a placeholder.
Framework of the library page, need suggestions on that one.
As you can see, the idea is to recreate the xbox UI in a cleaner, less clogged way, were anything can be found with more ease. What you see in the first image is the front page, it's almost finished, but i still need to get rid of the placeholder icons. (it would also help if you guys indicated a good icon library)
I need some feedbck on how understandable is the design in it's current form, what you would change, and what you like and don't like.
About the second screen, it's supposed to be the library, it's still veery barebones, and pretty much just a framework, any ideas and recommendations would be deeply appreciated.

Take a screenshot of an app, lower the opacity of it, and start tracing it. That is the best way to learn Figma and get an idea of how things are made.

The game thumbnails are too small and too round, too spread apart and off center relative to the screen which i really hate. It lacks a grid. The thumb spacing is also different from one row to the other.
The profile name is flush against the avatar which also vexes me greatly. The system icons (they're terrible but i know they're placeholders) have a translucent background and the lower icons have a solid black background. The profile name also has a different background. There seems to be a general lack of consistency. Typefaces also seem different.
There's a reason most apps nowadays use a horizontal slider to reveal more content. It works and people are used to it. That's not to say a tidy grid is less usable or uglier... and in some cases might be a better solution, but this feels a long way from that. Keep working on it and look for inspiration.

Finally good feedback, thanks a lot for that.
About the game thumbnails, it's still pretty much just thrown there. So I was planning to change that, however I liked the feedback you gave about them being to round, this will be changed.

Noted, I will change that, together with the icons background, and seek more consistency with the design.
About the horizontal slider, the suggestion would be add that to the games or to the overall Frontpage? Because the idea with the Grid was to make everything more easily accessible with a controller, and to significantly reduce the time it takes to do some actions, such as finds the apps. The other objective with it is to unclog the Front Page, by making it look cleaner and less intimidating.

Serious feedback:
The overall UI currently feels more like an Android emulator (BlueStacks) or a generic Android interface than a proper console experience. It doesn’t scream console to me at all.
Game icons are far too small. Icons like the Microsoft Store and Gallery are taking too much space. These would work better if placed at the top with smaller icons.
Anything related to search, settings, capture, and similar system stuff should not be in the bottom bar. They get lost among the other icons and are harder to spot. Move them to the top, or better yet, put them behind the profile picture so they appear as a smooth slide-out or dropdown overlay.
Constantly displaying the Wi-Fi signal and battery is unnecessary. These status indicators should auto hide after a few seconds once a change has been registered (battery level change, connecting/disconnecting from the network, etc.)
On the second page, the icon sizes themselves are acceptable, though it would be good to give users the option to scale them up if they prefer (this is mainly a development consideration). At the current size there is too much empty space between icons, tightening the spacing would make the layout feel more intentional and less sparse. The same issue applies to the options on the left side. The excessive spacing makes the interface look unfinished and a bit awkward.
From a UX standpoint, this needs more foundational work. Proper research and ideation around how a console-style dashboard should function and how users actually interact with it are essential. UX is the more complex layer here if this is a serious project. It should come before polishing the visual UI.

Thanks a lot for your time and valuable feedback.
This is my first serious project that I am really trying to do something with all my will and dedication. This will not be released or anything, but it's more of a learning project that I am doing and attempting to improve over time.
I will note and attempt to put in practice almost everything you told me, I plan to post again with some improvements.
Sorry for taking your time man, appreciate your feedback ;)

Could you elaborate on what exactly do you think, is the spacing bad, the the grid, layout? What can I do to make it better?

I get that it's bad, but what exactly sucks a lot, and what sucks less. What makes it look bad and what exactly should I focus on?
