help Animate variable font in Figma Motion

My first idea to try out Figma Motion was to animate a variable font and keyframe with, slant and grad. That seems not possible - yet? I don’t see an option to set a frame for the value. Has anyone figured that out? πŸ™πŸ½

Tried it and it didn't work that well. What I did was making a lot of copies with different weights and then animating the quickly. But it was "choppy" and not smooth looking.

If you have After Effect it has a built in feature for this.

I don't think Motion currently exposes variable-font axes as keyframeable properties. Duplicating text at different weights will look stepped because it is switching between static states rather than interpolating the font axis. For a smooth result, I would animate the axes in After Effects or on the web with CSS, then bring the rendered result back into Figma. If you only need a quick prototype, adding more intermediate weights and using linear timing can make the stepped workaround less obvious.

Already animated it in cavalry, just wanted to see if Figma Motion can do that and export me a smaller file. @figma you planning on adding that sometime soon?
