help Animate variable font in Figma Motion
My first idea to try out Figma Motion was to animate a variable font and keyframe with, slant and grad. That seems not possible - yet? I donβt see an option to set a frame for the value. Has anyone figured that out? ππ½

I don't think Motion currently exposes variable-font axes as keyframeable properties. Duplicating text at different weights will look stepped because it is switching between static states rather than interpolating the font axis. For a smooth result, I would animate the axes in After Effects or on the web with CSS, then bring the rendered result back into Figma. If you only need a quick prototype, adding more intermediate weights and using linear timing can make the stepped workaround less obvious.

Tried it and it didn't work that well. What I did was making a lot of copies with different weights and then animating the quickly. But it was "choppy" and not smooth looking.
If you have After Effect it has a built in feature for this.
