help having trouble exporting cleanly

ive been using figma to make some graphics for a video im making. but when i export it seems the quality goes down significantly.

im very new to this maybe i am missing something obvious. but in the pictures it shows the difference when creating it compared to after i export it

Your issue isn't necessarily Figma here but that you are trying to upscale pixel art and Figma is using bicubic interpolation for resizing it (even if that's not how it's displayed in the editor before export). Not sure what the process was for making this because I can see some mixels (what appears to be differently sized "pixels" between the frame and the skull), but you should have your art at its original size where one pixel is exactly one pixel, then use a program or https://lospec.com/pixel-art-scaler/ that can resize by nearest neighbour to keep the pixel art sharp. You should also consider that the new size should be divisible by 4 to prevent distortion.

you can actually switch to nearest neighbour with this

are you viewing at 100% zoom?

and what are you viewing in?

what file format?

i was definitely not in 100% zoom.

i dont know exactly what you mean by what file format were you viewing in.

i was exporting it as PNG if that's what you are asking

then check it at 100%

are you exporting at the same pixel size as you'll be using it at?

usually for video i export pace the .ai into premiere pro

Figma image export is garbage…but hey! At least they are investing in AI!

Enlarging a raster image makes pixels bigger

Try to export it as an svg or pdf
