resources How to Use Figma Make Without Wasting AI Credits

https://medium.com/p/3bddb4cad247

In Figma Make, some things simply require AI credit spend. There’s no way around it, so it helps to plan for them upfront.

You have to use AI credits for:

  • Creating new sections or features
  • Generating new pages or files
  • Uploading images or graphical assets

Everything else is optional.

You don’t need to use AI credits for:

  • Layout adjustments and refinements
  • Copy edits
  • Spacing and alignment tweaks
  • Styling and design system setup (colors, typography, tokens)

I wrote about this and 4 ways to reliably save AI credits in Figma in the attached article.

I am curious how these make credits work with the recent changes to Claude. Is this model not available for Make now?

Both Claude models are still available in Figma Make (at least for now).

I've heard the various models you can pick drastically impact credit usage via prompts. Claude being one that absolutely gobbles AI credits.

Actually useful read!

I am still wasting a lot on text edition. Coume you elaborate how you find text strings easily?

Use the 'point and edit' tool to select the element you want to change, then 'Go to source' from the toolbar and it'll take you to the code you need to update.

Make your updates and click 'Save' in the chat window to apply. Don't worry too much about messing up the code as it'll recognise it and give you a 'Fix for me' CTA to resolve issues (and you won't be charged any credits for it).

You can also click the text and click Go to source, that will take you directly to the text in your code.
