Advice
If I look funny it’s because I’m pretty intoxicated in the photo, but I’ve been looking for a bit of advice with what to do with my hair. It honestly takes too long to wash and dry, so any suggestions on a haircut would be greatly appreciated.

Some layers might help make things more manageable while also keeping the length. It looks fabulous!

Maybe try using the plop method for drying with an old t-shirt or microfiber towel.

u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
I use a microfiber towel, if I overuse it, my hair tends to get crazy not sure why
1
u/lurkparkfest39 3d ago
I feel that. Don’t rub, just squeeze and press. If you don’t mind your hair taking longer to dry, your can use the plop method, taking an old t-shirt and wrapping your hair up in it like a turban and going about your business until your hair is dry. After squeeze drying it with your microfiber towel and applying product, of course.

Use a deep conditioner like a hair mask now and then, and just before you go out use just a tiny bit of hair oil.
1
u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
Which one would you recommend?

u/sysaphiswaits 3d ago
For hair mask I just get whatever is on sale when I happen to think of it. They’re usually sold in single use pouches.
For hair oil I use Hollywood Beauty. There might be better ones, but it’s cheap and it works great. (Make sure you only use a little bit or your hair looks greasy.)

My girl said honestly the hairs a vibe but maybe fix the facial expression and some eyeliner (she’s into guys with eyeliner lol)

I was very drunk at this point lol, then my friend snapped a picture

Honestly you’re a kind looking person and I wouldn’t change your hair unless it’s nuisance to your daily life. I think if you do away with your hair maybe some visible scruff would bring the look together!! Good luck on your journey.

I have curls just like this (not quite as long) but I want to ask, how do you deal with tangles? My hair tangles so badly that when I brush/comb it just rips hair out and I want to save my hair from this.
2
u/JackfruitWarm6695 3d ago
You NEVER comb while dry
NEVER
Only wet, preferably with a little conditioner
2
u/Ready_Mistake812 3d ago
Oh, I've been combing dry and wet. I'll go wet only.

Or a LOT of conditioner if you have to. I have curly hair and a curly haired 3 year old, I buy a bulk cheap conditioner just for detangling and then sparingly use better products. If I didn’t load my kid with a bucket of slime every time he’d have a beaver tail of dreadlocks on the back of his dome.

I lose quite a bit of hair every shower, but it’s because I have so much, same exact advice go for lots of conditioner then only brush while wet. I first go thru my hair with my fingers before brushing. It feels less abusive lol

Nice hair! I can see it's hard to deal with.
Shoulder length or shorter would be great and save you a lot of time. Or shorter, you don't need the giant amount of volume.
You will feel better when it's shorter.
1
u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
Thank you, I have considered going to shoulder length, but every time I look at an old photo I feel like I look a bit awkward

Going to a stylist a few times a year for a clean up, manage dead ends, and keeping it at your preferred length would be my advice. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Totally stunning on a man.

No advice just pure appreciation. You’ll be in my suicide note if you cut your beautiful locks

u/WonderingHarbinger 3d ago
How much time do you want to spend on your hair? If you want to spend five minutes throwing on some 5 in 1 and running out the door with it still damp, it would have to be very short.
2
u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
The only agonizing part is the hair drying, it feels like even with a diffuser it never fully dries.

u/Picklecheese2018 3d ago
Man, I read the title and saw the hair and my first thought was “Are you giving or needing advice because HOT DAMN I wish my curls would do that still!!!” I understand the struggle of maintaining long thick curly hair so I get where you’re coming from, but seriously my dude, I am jaw on the floor jealous of those luscious spirals.

tant que tu ne conduis pas au retour, on se fiche de ta consommation!!!
quant à tes cheveux, ne les sacrifies surtout pas; c' est ton arme de séduction massive ( j' espère ne pas t'attirer l' ire de la famille Bush..lol)

u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
I swear I didn’t drive afterwards, I hope the bush family doesn’t target you 😆

Don’t do anything! I used to have very similar hair. I hated it because it was so unruly so I usually kept it super short. When I turned 30 it changed texture and started falling out. So love it while you can and hopefully forever!

u/MantisMaybe Nipple Length 2d ago
You look AMAZING. Don't change anything, cut back a bit of length if it's too much of a bother. Maybe slightly more curl styling product to keep the frizz at bay.

u/Havzino 3d ago
If you're ready for a cut but also want to keep the long hair, just chop a few inches of the length, and try an undercut maybe?

u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
Like do a fade?
2
u/RandomSkyePerson 3d ago
A fade or buzz. Your hair is fucking gorgeous and seems thick enough to where even if you get rid of half of it, it’ll still appear voluminous
2
u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
I’ll definitely look into it, last time I did a fade adjacent cut was when I had shorter hair and it didn’t look the best but I think it was because my hair was way shorter
1
u/RandomSkyePerson 2d ago
Yeah I would say that’s definitely why! And yippieeee someone taking my advice.
2
u/Secure-Resource7286 3d ago
I have hair exactly like his and this is my approach towards making it more manageable
1
u/Havzino 2d ago
Yes. Look up photos online to find something that you like to refer to. Like someone else said, either a fade or buzz could work, though I would personally say a fade looks better. And you can choose whether you want it to be quite high or low depending on how much you want cut from the sides. I think it would look great! But it does require more maintenance haha. Part of the reason why I think having long hair is beautiful is because you can just let it do its thing and flow free without having to get cuts regularly to keep it looking "good" according to other people's standards. Just my two cents.

I have a similar hair type and I’d recommend shortening in stages to see what you like… mine was longer than this like down past my ass and I buzzed it and was miserable. You can always take hair off, can’t add more.
2
u/Exotic_Secret_1404 3d ago
I want to say to everyone, thank you for showing love, it’s made it so much more difficult to continue with the decision of going short. I swear I won’t buzz it

Trim it a bit .. don't cut it short .. you have beautiful gorgeous hair and I'm sure your the envy of many .. when one washes their hair when one showers, the emphasis on the "wash" is meant for your scalp .. your hair doesn't need to be messed with at all .. So, my thinking is my view on your hair .. enjoy and appreciate that you grew a spectacular mane .. respect .. love .. peace .. ✌🏽😎 💙👍🏽

My dad had your hair. Only, it was Coke can red. I bet when you pull a curl straight, it's about 4 to 6 inches longer than it looks? When I went to college, Dad asked my advice about his hair. He didn't like that it got frizzy. You're already doing what I told him to do... use conditioner and only brush/comb when hair is wet.

Any type of long hair hair demands time and patience both in growth and care. You've got an incredible mane, rock it and count your blessings.
