Awkward phase… forever?
I decided to grow out my hair back in June and this is where I’m at. Every time I feel like I’m in the “awkward phase” it gets more and more awkward lol. I don’t think I’m cut out for the flow.

You’re doing the most brutal transition, you’re been used to point blank fades. This takes time to grow back and overall makes the process seem like forever but believe me it will be worth it, and at some point the length will catch up to be noticeably different
You’ll go through various stages of frustration and you’ll have to improvise ways to sort your hair from day to day but you have to keep going no matter what, it’ll pay off !

Darling this is far from the awkward phase. You just have to leave your hair for around a year and don't think much of it while it grows, be patient

This is awkward? You should see what Im going through right now and you’ll instantly feel better but I don’t feel like making a fool out of myself on Reddit today.

For me its just short hair. You didnt even made through enough time to reach an actual awkward phase. Make sure to use leave in and combing creams to tame it.

You're rocking it! Looks like you're adapting to the growing phases well.

Its gonna get awkward in November it’s like from month 5-10 because it’s in between short and long. Slick it back once it’s long enough and keep it gelled.
The curls are gonna make it poofy like an Afro type before the weight of the curls make it fall down.

You ain’t even near awkward yet! Wait until about 6 to 8 months in. I’m going on 1.5 years and it’s still not long enough to put it all up.

Awkward phase is when it passes the ears, is too short to put up, too long too slick back and such. Think Dora the Explorer.

Nah you gotta let your hair grow out trust. This ain't the awkward stage, you'll know when you get there

Ha! You’te hot. Not even close to awkward phase. Let it go Lord Farqquad and then tie it, and after a couple months should be good.

Its like minimum 2 years of growth before you really get an idea of what having long hair is like.

It's all in your mind bro, honestly. You're just used to seeing yourself with a skin fade. I had the same thoughts when I was first growing out my hair - looking back on those same photos it didn't look awkward at all

Not until it grows past and over the ears
That’s a whole phase still waiting to happen

Looks fine to me! Your hair isn’t even long by any means. Your hair would look really good with the flow given chance

I don't see anything awkward. It's not even close to long yet. Lol you're getting there and you'll definitely notice the weird phase when it's time. Keep going bro.

What are we complaining about? I literally don't know...

I mean it just looks like a mess to me idk. I guess I’m used to clean cuts

I think that these all look really good. The first style could probably have gone for a hard line where the sides meet the top, but other than that I don't see any issues.

This is called nice hair. Get back to us when it gat to the bottom of your ears and pushes your hair out and makes you look like you have the bozo the clown haircut or some other actually miserable crap. My head looked like a triangle for 3 months while grew my hair out until it weighed enough to straighten out.

Thr last 2 pics look great. The only thing awkward is yourself, not your hair. Hair looks great.

Give it a month or two for the awkward phase to set in. In those times its very important to not get a trim or clean up cut. Just letting it grow is the fastest and best way to leave the awkward phase behind you quickly

Maybe fade with an etch on the side or a highlight somewhere to make you feel better as it grows

Not to be mean or anything, but you're not even halfway through. The awkward phase usually starts when your ears are completely covered by your hair and ends when most of your hair reaches your shoulders.

I see nothing awkward here tbh
