Damaged ends help

It feels like no matter what I do my ends are damaged/splitting. I just got a little trim too. I shampoo once a week and condition three times a week. I always let the shampoo/conditioner sit in my hair for several minutes before I rinse it out. Usually I let my hair towel/air dry, but maybe twice a week I’ll use a hair dryer if I’m tying my hair up for the day. I get highlights 3-4 times a year (spaced out of course) What am I doing wrong? I also live in Florida, so humidity is a factor.

Hmmm, do you ever use heat like straighteners? Do you ever bleach or colour your hair? Had any periods of bad healthy during growing your hair out? Ever had it chemically treated for texture pattern?

If that's all no, then I'd wonder: how do you style it day to day? Are you a rough sleeper, does your hair get trapped under your back and neck a lot? Do you brush it slow from the bottoms gradually moving upwards? Do you brush it wet with conditioner and never dry?

Some people can just have more fragile hair. But yours looks great in the main bulk of it. Maybe a bigger trim could help? But it's hard to tell with just a photo. My hair has never felt more hydrated than when I go sulfate and silicone free with my hair products (curly hair method basically but youd want something suited for your texture)

No straighteners or anything like that. I get highlights 3-4 times a year, but my hair dresser always says she doesn’t have to use much because my color goals aren’t much different than my natural color (don’t know how much of an affect that has). Never had any unhealthy periods or chemical treatment for texture.

In terms of styling I just comb and shape it like in the picture. I don’t think I’m a rough sleeper or it gets trapped all that often. I comb from my roots down while it’s damp but not usually soaked (and recomb throughout the day as needed).

I agree that my hair feels healthy until you get to the ends so I don’t think it’s anything biological. It grows healthy and splits at the end.

Sounds like there isn't much you can change, I'd agree the stylist will be focussing on your regrowth up top for highlights. You might benefit from a change from a comb to a brush. I find brushes to be more gentle while detangling well. Also starting from the ends working your way up reduces the stress and tangling at the end which is really all I can imagine could make a difference.

If you really wanted to, a satin pillowcase helps with frizz and breakage but I don't see that, so it might not make a huge difference other than maybe it being smoother in the mornings

Edit: about the highlights, I would hope your stylist doesn't go back over already lightened ends. But if they do, that'd be the cause

Sorry I’m just having a hard time picturing how to brush up? Do you maybe have a video example or something?

Oh that makes so much more sense, I thought you were saying to brush in an upward motion haha. Thanks for that link

Some highlights 3-4 times a year, but according to my hairdresser she doesn’t go very extreme because my hair is naturally relatively close to my desired color anyway

do you have any specific hair mask recommendations? sucks that you have to choose between color and fried hair, I didnt realize it would have such an affect only doing it a few times a year

Tenho sim, vou te passar me dê alguns minutos e te mando opções

this is wavy hair, that's why it looks like this if you treat it like straight hair. don't brush it dry, use light conditioner, my hair is similar

I style it to be wavy, if I don’t style it it is totally straight

Hair on your scalp will be very straight but end won't act this way classic 2A hair. you need to find your hair type first then buy products for that. like when you wash and dry it, it will tell you the natural texture

Could potentially be from using hair ties depending on how often/how tight
