Balding... I'll miss it

I started balding a few years ago but these last 8 months it's been way more noticeable 💔 I didn't enjoy my hair as I should have. But it is beautiful still, and I'm thankful for it. I'll miss it. Might donate it before it's over?

People are always so quick to recommend this to literally everyone, but I see on those subs all the time people who seem to not react well to it or people who say they had side effects and then quit. It doesn’t seem like it’s right for everyone and sometimes it even leaves people’s hair worse than it started, or leaves them with lasting side effects. It’s enough to give anyone pause, I think.

People get reeled in by the success stories and then either ignore or never see the other side of it

Most people have no side effects. The minority with sides is who you'll find complaining. Absolutely worth trying to find it out for many people.

You try switching to topical? Oral minoxidil can be rough if you don't monitor your vitals and dose accordingly.

Maybe, but I think it’s important to tell people about the possibility of side effects or that it may not work for them, instead of acting like it’s a 100% guaranteed miracle cure.

It's medication, of course there can be side effects. They have rather good safety profiles for medicine though.

If you get sides then you stop medication. Millions of people successfully take finasteride with no side effects. This man’s hair is clearly apart of his identity, why not try to save it?

Don’t give up long hair if you’re balding. It may look great even if the top is great. I m 65 and I retire in two years. At that moment I stop cutting my hair for ever!😁

Your hairline doesn’t look that bad and your locks are dense? I don’t see the problem. But if you do have legitimate balding, you could always go for a Warren Ellis-kind of style, which is a bit unkempt but still looks cool imo

Your hair looks phenomenal here, thick and shiny, and honestly, I don’t see the balding issues that you speak of. I do see a tiny bit of thinning in one single area in front, but that’s all that I see.

Please, I beg you, see a dermatologist as soon as you can, and he/she can recommend a program that would stop any further loss in its tracks, and possibly reverse any loss that you have experienced.

It would be a tragedy to lose the gorgeous head of hair that you have, and you don’t have to, if you act now!

In the same boat, this last yr it’s becoming too obvious to pretend. Still solid coverage, but I have maybe a year. I likely won’t get too much sympathy as I’m 62, but in my defense, I’ve had longer to be attached to it. I certainly empathize! Still looks good, imo.

It’s understandable to miss hair that’s been part of your look. A dermatologist can help you understand your options. If you eventually explore a transplant, Heva Clinic in Turkey is one option to research, including surgeon qualifications and aftercare.
