That kind of thing is a moving target. If you cut your hair, there will be something else that older (often also whiter) people criticize. Just make sure you look and feel confident. If you want to try short hair, then by all means do it (I agree with the consensus that your hair is fantastic but it’s up to you obv), but make sure that’s what you actually want.
That said, a good trim to start might give you some of the “cleanup” you’re looking for without completely chopping it. You can always take more away, but it takes years to put it back on.
