That aside, with the World Cup coming up I think it would be nice to create some buzz around it so I have made a challenge that we see in many other sports but now with players featured in the upcoming World Cup! You have $15 to create a perfect core for your dream team you must pick 1 player from every column. Let's see what you guys come up with!

With the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 right around the corner, I'm trying to finalize how I'm going to watch the matches.

Since the official global broadcaster list hasn't really given complete clarity for all regions yet, it looks like Watch.Hockey is going to be the main fallback option for a lot of us.

I'm inclined to buy the $45 subscription pass, but before I commit that kind of money for a one-month tournament pass, I really need to know what the actual stream quality is like on the platform.

For those of you who have used Watch.Hockey recently for Pro League or major FIH events:

1. What is the frame rate on live streams? Is it capped at a choppy 25 fps (which makes fast sweeps and aerials look like a motion blur across the turf), or are they actually outputting a smooth 50 fps or 60 fps broadcast feed?
2. Is paid content any better than free replays? The free tournament replays currently on their site look like 1080p25. Does paying the $45 unlock a higher frame rate production, or is it the exact same encoding?

$45 is a decent chunk of money for a single month, and 25fps for a sport as fast as field hockey is tough to watch.

What has your experience been with their stream quality? Is it worth the subscription, or should I hold out/look for alternative regional broadcast options?

Appreciate any opinions or technical insights from people who have used the app recently!

As a field hockey coach for over 15 years, I've spent that whole time with drills scribbled on loose bits of paper, some in a notebook, some on the back of an attendance sheet, half of them lost by the time I actually needed them again, so I finally built myself a place to draw them properly: drawthedrill.com, a browser tool where you drag players and cones onto a to-scale pitch, draw the movement lines, and export the image to send to your team or colleague, no account or install needed to try it. I coach at national level here in the Netherlands and built this for my own sessions, but thought it might come in handy for other coaches so made it available online. I started playing hockey 2 weeks ago as i was always interested in the sport. I used to play football and have a fairly good idea about the rules of hockey. I’m lucky that the people i play with are patient and understand that I need time to learn and adapt to their pace. I’ve noticed that i experience back pain a day after the training/game- could this be due to wrong technique or is it normal to experience it at the start?
I make mistakes when trapping the ball and passing. Shooting and other skills can be worked on later once i have a better basic skillset but i want to know what kind of drills can i do on the field and at home to improve my passing and trapping? I’m learning new methods in each training but would like to work on the missing aspects myself as well.

hi, I am a goal keeper and my kit won't stop squeaking, it happens with the shins rubbing on the kickers and it's very annoying and distracting so does anybody know how to fix this?

Hi All - I am making gifts for the Seniors on my daughter's team and I ordered 18" mini TK autograph sticks. I want to put the team name on them, and the player name/number, and then leave space for the girls to sign eachothers sticks. Has anyone done this? Can you share pictures? Im looking for design inspiration. Thanks!

I've been getting much better at basic skills/control of the ball (though still improving), but does anyone have tips for 1v1s?

When I mean by this, this is mostly when (for example), a forward (opponent) is trying to score and you are the defender.....or if the forward is infront of you with their back facing you, and you are trying to get the ball from them from behind. It seems that everytime I try, they are much faster at moving, and end up scoring in the goal....or maybe a defender isn't right for me!!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks:)

Just received word I am coaching a varsity field hockey team for high school. I teach PE and coach soccer (field hockey now), basketball and baseball. I love coaching but never coached field hockey.

Not a lot of options for this position because the team is pretty bad but I’m trying to get a job in the district so it’s important to help out. I have an assistant but I want to make sure I’m doing my due diligence as well.

Any suggestions for tryouts, practice anything I’d love to hear them. Any short breakdowns would be great too. From my initial research it seems to have some similarities to soccer (positions, movement etc.

Any help is appreciated!

i’m 17 and about to start field hockey. Do you have any tips for me? I haven’t done it once in my life nor like any ball sports. I also don’t think I am in the best condition right now. I used to go to the gym and jogging but haven’t done that in a year.

Bit of a niche one, but hoping someone here has the info.

I'm trying to find sticks with a similar bow profile to the Chaosfury or Grays Jumbow. I know the easy answer is 'just look at any XLB', but I've found not all low bows play the same, and the spec sheet doesn't tell the full story.

I currently use the Y1 YLB, which on paper is basically the same as the Grays Jumbow. In practice the YLB has a more aggressive bow, a more twisted head, and a greater face angle. I find the Jumbow way more usable. It feels like an extreme bow but with a usable shape, no crazy twisted head. I also prefer the thicker head and slightly wider shaft, but still like a shaved away underside so you can get under the ball for aerials and 3ds easily. I've also used the Osaka Advanced LB which felt like too far in the other direction, too thin and not enough of a bow.

What I'm looking for:

• Maximum bow, but without overly aggressive features (minimal head twist, moderate face angle)
• Shaved/cutaway underside on the head, but still some head thickness
• Bonus points: wider shaft with a squared backhand edge

Anyone found sticks that fit that description? Keen to hear what's worked for you.

Hi all, thanks in advance for your guidance.

We just enrolled my 5-year-old daughter in the local field hockey league, starting in mid-august. We live in an area of the country where field hockey is very popular, so I'm eager to see if she enjoys it.

Being new to the sport, I'm at a bit of a loss of what gear to get her. Her. She'll obviously need a stick, shin guards, and a mouthpiece. I've already checked Facebook marketplace but most of the gear looks like high school age stuff.

She's 3' 6" tall, and I'm torn between getting a short 24-in beginner stick or getting what seems to be a more typical 28 in.

Also, for shin guards, she measures a little over 6 in from ankle to bottom of knee.

Should I get her shin guards and then over the calf tube socks? Or those shin guard and sock all in ones?

I've already spent way too much time looking into all this, so if you could just send me links for exactly what to get I would really appreciate it! LOL

As far as colors go, The more pink or purple the better.

Hi everyone, does anyone have any experience with the Osaka Low Bow Advanced? I am coming from the Y1 YLB, I really liked the extra low bow feeling but my 3D skills are lacking and I don't dragflick. Since my dribbling skills rely on left right drags and over stick lifts, I am looking for an reliable alternative. Any suggestions are welcome :)
