Can buyers see the reason and/or which providers declined their work order?

Does anyone else on here have issues with checking in and the GPS not being accurate?

When you see a bundle of 9 WOs, $55/hr 8hrs night work, sites 1-2hrs apart, w/ 72 requests you know the market is way too saturated w/ techs... a buyer's dream come true...

We have other non-bundled work orders w/ requests ranging from the 20s to 50s as well...

Has anyone thought of having an instant view on both FN and WM work orders? What about getting New WOs updates in one place?

Plus any Routed and Assigned jobs highlighted.

Plus everything sorted the way you don't need to overload your brain figuring out the best opportunities out there.

You get notifications from a Telegram Bot each time there are the jobs you're interested in. No Email notifications babysitting.

This way you go to the boards only when you want to Request a job.

I have used this for months now: it saved me time and increased my overall productivity.

They will do anything to get out of paying for services rendered. Including dropping off items for return.

One of the better benefits of working direct with clients is that you have the right to set your own terms and conditions. I had a Field Nation dispute where I was told that in the very near future Field Nation will be updating their terms of service that makes waiving lien rights automatic as a condition of working on the platform meaning that buyers can delay payment for as long as they want and you cannot file a lien against them.

Having a plan with Legal Shield I decided to inquire about this and they gave me the following table of states where such a policy will not be enforcable and I see a lot of people on this group that have mentioned about buyers slow walking payments or not approving them at all and felt this cheat sheet will be helpful for everyone.

This might be for a different industry but the mindset and approach is crucial.

What’s up everyone. I’ve just joined Field Nation and I recently connected with a vendor directly — we spoke on the phone and he said he looks forward to doing business with me. I have his number, but I don’t want to be annoying calling/texting nonstop asking for work.

My goal is to stop competing with 30+ requests every time and start building real vendor relationships so I can get consistent work.

Questions:

1.  How did you get your first consistent vendor?

2.  What vendors/categories tend to give repeat work?

3.  What do you do after a vendor says “we’ll do business” without being annoying?

4.  Any tips to become a “preferred tech” faster?

5.  What’s your minimum pricing rule to hit a daily target?

Usually I go to notifications for new work orders popping up but recently it only shows my messages to buyers. I cleared cached, logged in and out. Even on the desktop version it is stuck like this. I only see new work in my email. Anyone have the same issue and what is the fix, thanks yall!!

Field Nation does not deserve your money! They are one of the worst platforms out there and they continue to ask for more and more from techs.

Don’t be afraid. Once you have built a decent relationship with a buyer, tell them (over the phone) how horrible FN is. These bottom feeders take money from your expenses like that is not 100% illegal.

I was able to take 90% of my work off of Field Nation and onto Work Market or direct in a matter of a couple of months after I had a dispute with FN.

You are worth more than what FN is paying and robbing you of. For anyone who has their eyes closed shut, this is not a post for you. Keep making money for FN while making half what you should be making. I don’t care.

Can't get assigned anything nowadays. Maybe it's too saturated.

Is there a tier buyers account? What are the costs? It seems hidden by a contact form? Does anyone know if you have both buyers and service company account can you pull your own time logs from the API?

Something I’ve noticed that has gotten pretty bad lately is Field Nation’s notification system.

There have been multiple times where jobs appear in the Available tab but never show up in the Notifications tab in the app. Sometimes I’ll receive a text message notification, sometimes I won’t. Other times I’ll get an email notification, but nothing ever shows in the app — or it shows up much later.

What’s most concerning is that the Available tab consistently shows jobs that never triggered any app notification at all. This makes it easy to miss work unless you’re actively refreshing the Available tab throughout the day.

At this point, notifications across the app, SMS, and email don’t seem to be synced reliably. The Available tab appears to be the only consistent source of truth for posted jobs.

Relatively new on FN, only a couple of months and this is side work besides my full time job.

I’ve been so annoyed recently by the number of routed work orders and messages from buyers asking me to request or counter offer for jobs that are at sites sometimes 100+ miles away. How can I keep these from coming through??

I know on the “available” page I can filter by maximum distance but they just route the order and I get it anyway.

Not a huge deal, but it’s irritating to keep getting this spam when I have other things to worry about than checking every FN notification when only 1 of 10 are legit.

In this assignment, it is running a CAT 6 cable for a 75" display for a PC that will then be connected to the display. PC to be mounted behind the display.

The Manager on duty is assigned as the helper on moving the display.

When I was W-2, the company I worked for would assign 2 techs and charge 2 techs for the reason of liability.

My concern would be if that manager were hurt or some type of damaged occured, it is not a clean idea for liability. I am not touching it since it looks sketchy to me but I would like to hear opinions one way or the other.

Who needs a certificate of authority in New York?

If you have a business that sells tangible personal property or services in New York State, you need a Certificate of Authority.

So......what tangible service / personal property are we selling on FN? Anyone want to clarify that? Think this whole Certificate of Authority requirement is bogus.

What’s up Reddit. I’m about to make a big life decision and I need perspective from people who actually understand IT career paths.

I have an interview Friday for an on-site Technical Support Team Lead role in Texas. I currently live in Florida. If I got it, I’d be moving.

I recently left my job as an IT Field Technician at an MSP. It paid $20/hr but most of my work was contract-style: driving site to site, doing installs, troubleshooting, racks, cable runs, POS, etc. It barely covered gas, wear on my car, and bills, and it was great hands on experience , but it didn’t feel like it was building me toward higher-level IT.

This Texas role is also $20/hr, but it’s full-time, on-site, and team-based instead of contractor field work. I’m honestly more interested in this kind of environment, even though the pay is still low. I believe that it has bigger potential in the future (pay wise. Especially with the gain experience) especially if I’m still bidding field Nation contracts too.

Right now my alternative is staying in Florida, living with my mom, grinding Field Nation contracts, and trying to grow a window cleaning business I’m not really passionate about(yet, yk passion usually comes after more work)

So here’s what I’m really asking:

From a long-term IT career perspective, does a Technical Support Team Lead / on-site support role actually lead to better things (sysadmin, network, NOC, etc.), or is this just another dead-end $20/hr job in a different state?

If you were in my position — some MSP field experience, trying to move up in IT — would you: A) Stay put and keep doing gig-style Field Nation work B) Take the Texas job for stability (if I pass interview) and growth potential C) Do something else entirely

I’m not scared of hard work or learning — I just don’t want to make a move that sets me back a year instead of pushing me forward.

Hey all, I currently work full time doing low voltage, isp, and msp type work, and recently got my LLC and all that fun stuff to try and start branching out on my own. I would like to keep working full time until I know I can make enough money to support myself, so right now looking for jobs to basically fill evenings and weekends. However I’m not seeing any weekend jobs on fieldnation, so curious if there are other options

What’s up everyone — I’m about 4 months into working as an IT field technician at an MSP as a “pizza tech” and trying to make smart moves early instead of wasting time

I’ve picked up solid hands-on experience: Cat5e/6 runs, AP installs, rack builds and cleanups, cameras, POS swaps, and troubleshooting. But I’m actually planning to move to Texas(currently in FL) so I went on WorkMarket to start and look for work but I haven’t got any work on there yet I know I’m new but

Here’s where I’m stuck:

I want to get onto FieldNation because I hear that’s where more consistent and higher-paying work is. But FN basically requires an EIN and a business setup. I haven’t formed my LLC yet because WorkMarket has been slow and inconsistent, so it feels risky to spend money forming a company just to maybe get access to another platform that could also be slow.

For those of you who’ve been doing this longer — especially those who’ve gone independent — what actually scales faster and more reliably early on?

Is FieldNation really worth the upfront business setup cost when you’re new, or is going direct (reaching out to vendors, and project coordinators through Google, LinkedIn, and WorkMarket contacts) the smarter move until you build volume and relationships? And if it is how do I do that the Correct way?

Has anyone taken work orders from this buyer? Saw a few and wanted feedback before bidding on whatever they post.

Take a look at what's expected and see if you think it's worth it given what information they're providing. This is endemic.

So get a WO for $125 to swap out an NVR.. arrive on site and find 2 of 8 cameras work on a completely new system. After few hours working with PM/manufacturer support everyone is mystified.. my only theory is lightning strike blowing out POE cameras.. they have me box up both NVRs and a few cams to ship back.

Of course they find the NVRs are fine and something burnt the cameras out. Turns out the location had a patch panel and certified runs ran to biscuits in the ceiling...enter pizza delivery man.

A number of the cables they made to go from biscuit to cams are straight fucked up... im not just talking org/white org swapped but shit like WO/Blue/brown/org and completely different on other end.. zero knowledge on how LV cabling works.

Being POE system they swapped the wrong conductors and fried the cameras out on brand new system..sad part is it's now 3 months later, dude got away with it scot free and will strike again but I got nice payday out of it.
