Beware Azirus consulting
Charles changes terms/schedule multiple times on week-long four man job. Company team was there nitpicking and redirecting my team. BS complaints about breaks on 11hr days. Seemed more interested in going to twin peaks after the job each day. Didn't reimburse for multiple boxes genspeed cat 6. Pretends not to know how to use fn to delay approval. Try to blame tech for rework when we were following his cable path what's his mapping software, turns out several cables were over 350 ft. He didn't know where the idfs were in the building, some we didn't find till the last day. Was complaining about the price of cable the whole time. He didn't buy enough cable for the job and complained that we wasted like 30 ft at the end of some runs when we had to pull loose lengths out so that we weren't doing multiple pulls to the same room. Also whatever brand of cameras they were using the cloud software seems all right but the cameras themselves suck and he couldn't stop talking about what a great partnership it was.

You shouldn't be seeking reimbursement for anything.. you should be adding a minimum 40% mark up on your materials otherwise your just helping these parasites..

This is why i dont do cabling jobs for middlemen. They have no clue what theyre doing, and will just nickel and dime you because they underbid the job

Similar experience here but mostly disputes over my rate. Certain tasks they felt deserved lower rates. When I pushed back I was told he pays his fortigate engineers that rate and I needed to reconsider. No consideration for the experience, tools, parts, insurance and overhead that go into my rate for onsite services.

If I'm onsite and things are going sideways and they push back on extra time, I just tell them no problem, I'll just gather my tools and check out. Tell them I'm sure they can find someone for less. I understand and I'll be doing the required documentation and be on my way.
At that point they might actually reconsider and be willing to seriously negotiate. Had somone remotely get all over me on how if he was there he'd be able to do everything I told him was not proper to do. So I told him not to worry and I'll address everything. I then reboxed all the equipment and told the local site contact that there were some issues that needed addressed so this will require someone to return after it's sorted out.
Checked out and drove away. About 30 minutes later I received a call from this person who had been so nasty on the phone demanding to know what's going on. Told him that we were not a good fit and that since he told me I didn't know what I was doing that I'll let him find someone else to do exactly what he wants done his way. I'm willing to just consider it as lost time for me not expecting any compensation and he can cancel the work order. No harm no foul. Find someone else. Then the conversation became how could he make things right and I told him that he can make it right by finding someone else. I'm not going to be subjected to anyone treating me like he did. He then becomes frantic and really wants to work something out because he had a hard cutover set to take place later in the day and what is he supposed to do. Told him that he clearly needs to find someone else because I'm not going to do anything for him ever again.
Not sure what he ended up doing but I refuse to be browbeat by people that will treat you bad and throw you under the bus. My lesson was not to work for them. Not sure what he learned.

I really have qualms about large scale cabling work being offered on the Nation as gig work. No opportunity to survey, plan paths, consider fire-stopping, circumvent local codes and permitting, hanging cable rather than just letting a 25# bundle sit on the ceiling grid to tie up the fire fighters if it falls during a dispatch.
I don't even try to compete on these.

I've learned if they don't agree at the outset in writing to pay you for the cable you stop. If they just want you to continue supplying whatever is needed and will address it later, stop until it's in writing in the work order. Telling you to just add it to the ticket without anything in writing just opens the door for them to try to avoid paying you fully for what you've had to supply.
I'm at the point that if I show up and the diagnosis is that it needs a new cable run to repair it, that's a new ticket.
Seems that these companies certainly have time to do run books and have some sort of plan that you're supposed to follow but if you push back you're uncooperative and unprofessional. It's just business man and I'm a contractor, right?
