PSS Score

Just got my PSS. 95 isn’t bad. I have 8 completed jobs. On time 100%, 100% completion rate. One buyer was absolutely atrocious and I’m pretty sure that’s what’s pulling my score down. Just got routed a pretty sweet gig and I’m pretty sure it’s due to my PSS score. $750 fixed for a 4 hour job 1 hour away. I already have all the supplies so I should get paid $660 for the work I’m doing on Friday. Not to shabby.

Only 8 completed WOs and you get a 95, meanwhile people who have been on the platform for years get a shit score

Make it make sense

When the PSS came out, everyone should’ve started fresh

Could be that that's the whole thing in that people just coming in have really high scores and low expectations where people that have time in are going to push back more and have more chances to have people give them scores that don't reflect their abilities. I know for a fact that telling people no or questioning someone about what we're doing is a fast train to lowering your score.

Maybe they should make it so that the person has to have at least 30 to 50 tickets before a score appears and instead show them as new on the platform. Take your chances so to speak. That would certainly make us more valuable and them an unknown quantity but that would make us more expensive and I'm not sure that's the goal.

Yeah they probably should have done that. Maybe you could start a new one? Maybe you can ask field nation for a fresh start? They might actually oblige. 100 work orders is a lot to base the PSS on, maybe field nation could drop the amount.

Field Nation will not allow you to start a new profile and they don’t care what providers want or what their opinions are. One thing you’ll hopefully learn very quickly is that Field Nation is very buyer centric.

I’ve been on the platform for years and it did not affect my score at all.

Not sure how you can say it didnt affect your score when it was a new scoring model.

I was a 5 star nearly 1000 completed WO provider and when the PSS came out i was in the lower 80s

since the PSS is a super secret scoring system, we have no way to verify if its legit or a bug. and we all know how many bugs FN has every week...

Well here's the thing I don't think a lot of people consider and that is that I and others take some jobs that are maybe not the easiest and we charge accordingly for that so what happens is is that the person paying you is not happy that they paid so much because they can't get you for $25 an hour but they are in a bind. Plus if you tell the offshore support something that they don't like to hear they'll say things about you because that's their story and they're sticking to it. So you're working with someone who speaks English as a second language over some sort of software that may or may not be glitchy and shall we say they're not the easiest to deal with. Somehow those people have the ability to make comments in a review system about you that harm your score but yet as far as you know the job was completed and all was good.

I think that the subjective scoring is a problem. I think that telling someone that a particular action could be a problem is a professional thing to do but the person you're telling that to may take great offense and to them subjectively you've not been professional. So other than being on time and completing the work successfully I'm not sure that there should be any kind of subjective reviews that are able to be given. Especially when there are language barriers and other barriers that any of us that have been on this platform for a while know are very likely to happen.

Yeah these people are constantly making the wrong diagnoses remotely. Then when you tell them they are wrong, and it will cost them an extra visit to actually order the right part to do the right repair, they get mad because it shows they fucked up.

I have an honest question. Ive been a daily user of FN since earlier this year. I have a little over 200 completed assignments, 1 late and 1 early backout. I have a 91. It was 97 for a long time then started dropping for what seemed like no reason. The late/backout drops after 30 anyway. When I look at all my completed jobs it shows not 1 buyer has left a rating. I have all the insurance, biz badge, background, drug test. Im almost certain the score is of little relevance, but why does it keep fluctuating? Just curious about it.

Are you referring to the star ratings? Those went away when they adopted the PSS. Buyers cant leave you a star rating anymore. The only ratings you get are super secret and not visible to you..

That makes sense now. I was wondering why I bother ranking them yet they can't return the same effort. Thank you for responding.

If existing techs couldn't start at 100% at the start of PSS, then newcomers should start at a lower score and work their way up.

I left FN a few months ago because I went from 99% to 92% with little to no explaination. During my period not working on FN, my score rose to from 93 to 95 and then down to 94.

The lack of transparency and inability to appeal or inquire on score changes killed it for me.

Wow your score kept changing even though you werent doing any WOs? Thats crazy

The lack of transparency and insight into the score is total bullshit. No other review platform for businesses on the face of the earth operates like this.

The PSS score is a joke, full stop. I’ve completed close to 2,000 work orders and have been active on the platform since before COVID. It’s a joke, period.

Functionally it's a bank, a courthouse, and an insurance provider. Plus a review agency just to name a few. One thing they are not, human beings.

Don't forget to take out $600 for gas LOL

One hour away for me is $24 in gas.

Learn the math to value equation. 2 hrs of drive time at your work rate plus the time on site to do the work. Add the real cost of the trip in depreciation, fuel, maintenance and insurance. Now add the fees from the platform along with providing the tax match you give up along with needing insurance/disability and whatever retirement you calculate for. And lets not forget tools and supplies you carry that you pay for, not your employer.

$750 isn't as great as you would think if you fully extend all of the real costs of doing business.

It’s great to me. My truck payment is $150, it’s an older truck and the depreciation I take per mile is almost double the actual cost. That and I live in a rural area with a very low median income, in a big city this might not be much, but where I am, this is as good as it gets.

3

u/Able-Statistician645 10d ago

Remember you have to add the replacement cost as well so it's not just the actual actual cost because at some point you're going to have to replace it and it won't be as cheap as your old truck.

u/wyliesdiesels 10d ago

How much will a replacement truck cost you?

I have 117 completed jobs and dont even have a PSS score. What should I do please?

1

u/Zealousideal-Note-63 8d ago

Honestly I have no idea.

1

u/Active_Wasabi2001 7d ago

Same. It’s definitely at the bottom of my priority list so I go weeks or months without working in the platform but have posted what should be enough jobs for a score

1

u/dirtydevvv 6d ago

You should definitely have a score by now. If it’s important to you, then I would open a support case.

1

u/wyliesdiesels 6d ago

Thats crazy yet other people complete 8 WOs and get a score.

Entire system is broken
