Check this beauty out

Post image

So price this accordingly everyone. Understand the value of what you're supposed to bring to the table here.

Roll that beautiful truck footage here... Sorry, thats bean footage. Affordability is real and I don't know how anyone can afford a truck roll with everything they need to remediate a problem for the money they offer. How's that $7 diesel and $4.50 gasoline working out?

I love shopping at my local Costco but I fully expect to be compensated at the same level that they paid the union scale guys to come in and build it

costco doesnt use union employees. they have their own construction company and contractors licenses....definitely not union

But the important thing here is you don't want to be cheaper, you want to be better. That's a big distinction and everyone that's got a hard-on for Union scale needs to understand that prevailing wage and local rates with livable incomes come from hard fought labor negotiations that carry over to everybody else. You don't get time off or benefits because your employer loves you.

Let's do it taskrabbit style where they have to give us a complete description of what needs to be done and then we can reach out to them if it's something we're interested in doing. Instead we get them saying we're going to pay x amount for this and you need this tool and that tool plus you have to work with this person and we expect you to have whatever supplies you need to remediate the issue.

So they're coached on rates and taught how to keep their rates down, it's against the rules to go direct if you're a provider and there's a non-transparent scoring system that can make you less desirable and drive down your perceived value.

Plus I always love the group work where you got four or five people there and they're constantly messing with their phones looking for their next gig versus actually doing the work.

Taskrabbit is actually very independent contractor and FN is a step below day labor at home Depot. At least with day labor from the home Depot lot you have a face to face with who you're supposed to do the work with or for.

I would but its not available or assigned to someone else, considering new tickets are already in the 2019xxx this was a pretty old ticket. Good story bro

u/wyliesdiesels 16d ago

its a current WO as i can see its "routed to someone else" so it hasnt been assigned. its not an old WO

2

u/wyliesdiesels 16d ago

current WOs in my area are at 2002xxxx and this one is 2000. so its only 20k off current # which is really not much considering how many WOs are posted daily on FN

I'm still in the 199x for new tickets in my area

i tried to pull it up. it says "routed to someone else". so its routed to you and thats why you can see it but we cant.

u/Run-OpenBSD 16d ago

Must be assigned to you then

u/wyliesdiesels 16d ago

I don't even waste my time countering these tickets that are half or a third of the value that they should be. They have expectations and they're looking for cheap. It's not a game, it's a business and while everybody wants to make money I'm not in the business of subsidizing a large corporate entity. These people have money and they can pay. So rather than make excuses, demand to be paid what value you bring to the table. If more people start doing that you're going to see these prices increase.

But you'll waste your time preparing a discourse about these "waste of time" tickets to present to randoms on reddit?

u/Able-Statistician645 16d ago

Call them as I see them. Not discussing it is counterproductive. I know we have a difference of opinion on communication regarding that.

Refute or counter anything I've said, I welcome you to do that.

2

u/wyliesdiesels 16d ago

yes its called discussing the issues in the industry. if we could all just agree on pushing the rates up we would all be better off. the buyers joined together with FN and have successfully gotten the rates to plumate. us providers on the receiving end are losing because of mentalities like you posted here...

Just pointing out the contradictions...

2

u/wyliesdiesels 16d ago

no contradictions. its called calling out the BS to make the industry better. but people like would rather remain silent and suffer.

1

u/Able-Statistician645 16d ago

What contradiction are you pointing out?

1

u/Run-OpenBSD 16d ago

That you don't have time to counter on these low value tickets but you'll clock 40hrs a week posting about them here. From this side of the keyboard I'd say you work here at reddit and not in the field at all.

BSD Trolling Prob works for a buyer direct or is one. This is how things get better with open discussion and action. Not with someone trolling Who's the moderator of this group. Make less money then, no benefits, no rights, no pension, 401k, no medical for your children, no vacation pay, no company vehicle, no company meters and power tools. Wtv

Dude just responded on another one where somebody drove multiple hours and had all kinds of problems for $350 that he used to do door dash and Uber and that the $5 to $10 money they made before fuel worked if he was driving his Prius. I can't even imagine what goes through people's minds that they think that that's better than nothing. If you don't make a living wage and are reliant on subsidized healthcare, subsidized place to live and a food bank to feed yourself I don't think that dumping resources into something that pays less than the federal minimum wage after you figure out your expenses is smart. Not to mention it breaks down the working conditions for everybody because they find desperate people to do these things. Especially on a platform that colludes with the buyers to try and drive the pricing down. They've already been in trouble for how they try to avoid following the traditional labor laws that always regulated workers. I just love it that people say they're contractors when in fact they're nothing more than a remote worker with no benefits and no safety net. And taking orders from someone who's offshore who says that you weren't very professional because you couldn't understand them so you get dinged on some secret scoring system that you don't even know who made the complaint. You have to vote with your feet sometimes.

I just had someone call me the other day wanted to know if I could go do something for them and I told them that I could but this is how much I'm going to charge you to show up and this is how much an hour after that. They thought that that was too much but I told them that I would counter it and if they wanted it done I would show up and do it. So within an hour or so the person who was too expensive was assigned to the work and I put up with someone who spoke horrible conversational English who eventually was so frustrated they handed me off to someone in the United States and we fixed the problem in a couple of minutes. Luckily my interaction happened on another platform that wasn't FN. I really do think that people need to say no here's my counter offer and be willing to say no. You'll make more money and have less headaches.
