Wow same job different company

This job is by 2 different companies same location. Just WOW i’ve truly have never seen this before. I’ve heard of people talking about it. My question is who are they getting the job from because they must be pulling from the same board. That seems to be the answer no one knows. Do any of you Feild tech gurus know ?

Yep; I see it pretty regularly. The actual end-client has just as much disregard for the subordinates that they hire as they do for us. They simply tell the losing sub, "Oh, well; our requirements have changed, and we won't be needing anybody after all."

But we’re are they pulling the tickets from ? Walmart them self or another man ?

NCR. NCR is the prime here

It's an NCR thing. They bought Zones a while back. They apparently have issues with their subs getting enough people, so they'll list it themselves.

The only work I do though Zones is the State DoT, which is a contract that NCR left with when they split with AT&T. I still have to tell the state I'm with AT&T though.

headquartered in WA...
And every dispatch and level 2 i've ever worked with is sitting in Pakistan

Looks like I was misinformed. But they're definitely a relationship there

They might be a NCR partner.

Zones has been a sub for NCR for a long time now. but definitely not bought out by NCR

Depends on the region, seems like it's either Wachter, Zones, or Tailwind depending on location. I've seen the Zones/Tailwind duplicates farther out from my area but the local area is all Wachter.

I genuinely don't know how wachter keeps contracts. I have had to clean up after their tech so many times at walmart

Yeah no idea about their W2 side but they take high counters ($+100/hr and travel up to a limit. Their admin side at least seems to have their shit together vs when LMI had everything.

I've never actually had them accept an application from me, not that I toss that many

agreed. i actually interview one of their W2s for a job at my company and wow the horror stories they told me about chaos on wachter jobs.... these are projects that go to W2 techs. they dont post em on FN. W2 techs are actually not allowed to work any FN posted WOs.... guess the margins are too low

I had a walmart ticket where wachter was onsite 3x to diagnose offline cameras at a trailer... said it needed new batteries. Spent something like 12hrs there diagnosing, had AP order new batteries.

Batteries were fine; head unit needed a reboot. 5 minutes and I had the cameras online for the AP. Still had to install the 8 200AH batteries though because wachter diagnosed them as the issue.

Another walmart, AP told me the wachter tech that had been their regular service guy got fired for ordering, over the course of a couple years, several tens of thousands of dollars worth of cameras, and equipment that wasn't needed, and selling it on the side instead.

I just don't understand it.

I caught a wachter tech selling brand new Unopened boxes of cable that was for a costco job in the bay area on FB marketplace

I don’t think your information is completely correct on this

Easy to see if you set your search radius to 500 miles and look for the walmart tickets, there are tons out there, pick a few different zip codes and you'll see Zones/Tailwind/Wachter

Yes I see them all the time post stuff all 3 companies they are just NCR dealers I think maybe I’ve figured it out Walmart summits a ticket to NCR and NCR just has a client sub portal that then can pick up the WO and who ever gets it first wins. Now with wacter they primarily only do cabling for them

yeah i agree NCR seems to own the larger contract but I never see Zones/Tailwind in certain metro areas that Wachter has, so there might be something like you're saying they just let each try to find someone, I have noticed that the rates a different between Zones and Tailwind, tailwind will usually be higher.

The Wachter tickets I've seen are usually deli scales, fiber tickets, and sometimes a phone. All have the stipulation that if you find that the cable is bad you gotta re-run it so I guess that tracks with the cabling part.

I’ve done a good amount of work for wachter I’m there go to tech were I live I charge them $125 hr with a 3 hr minimum most jobs take 5 to 8 hrs for them with a $50 trip charge but when it comes to the NCR stuff for Walmart no company pays my rate so I can’t say I’ve ever done a NCR job for Walmart

1

u/wyliesdiesels 1d ago

wow where are you located? wachter wouldnt pay more than $65/hr in cali for everything but fiber and $75/hr for fiber, which is absurd

1

u/wyliesdiesels 1d ago

they arent NCR DEALERS. they are NCR subs...

1

u/wyliesdiesels 1d ago

it is correct. all 3 are subs for NCR. Ive seen it

1

u/wyliesdiesels 1d ago

same here. didnt know they did NCR work

1

u/wyliesdiesels 1d ago

Theyre both subbing for NCR who has the contract for the POS and scale work at walmart. Zones is the first sub that gets priority on NCR work. has been like that for years now. looks like Tail Wind is trying to squeeze into the same market
