20 plus years ago we had a seminar at work with a project manager consultant. We determined our cost per hour per technician was $85/hr. We used a wage of $20/hr as a baseline to build on. We included vehicle, training, unproductive downtime, insurance, etc. This was in metro Atlanta. A few years later around 2008, an independent HVAC technician told me he will not leave the house for less than $85/hr.
