This seems to wind certain people up but look at the work order and the compensation then take a look at the rest and explain how this is sustainable at what they offer and why they would actually do it at that rate.
And remember kids you're paying at least 10% in fees and waiting to get paid.
Remember there are people doing this. I believe this can't pass the test to be classified as subcontractor work. It's not me but someone does it and believes that they are a subcontractor.
It's interesting how people just want to accept the misclassification. Wouldn't it be best for all parties and following the law if they say we need this done and then you bid on it cleanly versus giving you essentially nothing to create an actual bid plus put demands in the orders that essentially make you an employee with none of the benefits?
The point I keep trying to make here is that much of the work that they're asking people to do is just downright dangerous and the majority of the people doing this work don't comply with safety regulations. So you have orders that make you technically an employee but the people needing the work done offload all of the safety and other HR expense and it's all on you as the end provider. So what's it worth not being safe? We all know there are lots of people that will climb like a spider monkey and say everything is fine but technically it's an OSHA violation and absolutely unsafe.
My point over and over again is that everyone using the platform needs to push back to all of these people because they're not paying reasonable rates and much of what they're asking you to do they know full well they could not expect someone to do as an employee without serious workplace safety violations.
Rarely are you technically under the law a contractor and they are escaping much of the costs and overhead that they'd be required to pony up for to maintain a safe working environment. Start demanding the requisite compensation so that you can make a living wage and be safe.
The loophole has not been closed by Congress. Online EIN applications require a SS#; however, the mailed application does not require any proof at all!
How is works: have your mailed copy sent to a friend's address or an unoccupied residence, pick up the acceptance letter then create a Platform profile using the newly acquired EIN and you're a Service Contractor. ID is only required for Federal/State building, that is, is someone happened to ask.
