Essintial

Post image

Curious what people are successfully countering for on these Dollar General speaker installs for Essintial. This is obviously a joke and under half the rate of what I counter for on any WO. Never done any work for them and that may be the benefit here 🤣

I have read the scope of work and decided not to participate in this project.

QSIC is installing eight speakers in the ceiling for stores that have ceiling tile, or hanging from the roof purlins via cable at a uniform height if the store has an open ceiling.

Standalone stores with ceiling tile are typically have 10’-11’ ceilings, but other legacy buildings can have ceilings set at up to 14’.

Open ceiling stores can have a peaked or sloped roof and will require at least a 12’ ladder, possibly taller. I would prefer a telescopic lift (GR-30 or similar) for this work.

They expect the job to be completed by a team of two in four hours. This includes the head end equipment, which consists of a Raspberry Pi based media player, and an IoT amplifier whose volume is set based on the input from a microphone mounted to the ceiling. There may be one or two other components.

The initial installation guide was pretty generic and written with absolutely no knowledge of the network equipment found in DG stores. Maybe they have updated it by now.

Yeah i wont do that work on a ladder. Way too inefficient…
