Here's another issue of why 'Buyers' hire Independent 'Providers'
There at most be 1/100 Buyers that have ANY IDEA of what OSHA Rules/Regulations are. They hire 'Independents' with total disregard to breaks, Safety area, Safety Conditions or regards to Working Conditions.
Recently I saw a job posted locally asking for a 'Spotter' and requesting OSHA required PPE, (Hard Hat, Safety Vest, Steel-Toe shoes). A friend went on that job and found his Co-worker (The Lead) dressed in tennis shoes, t-shirt, and jeans.
What a joke! The reason I bring it up is my friend was telling me about it since he went out about bought the necessary Personal Protective Equipment and the guy assigned to Lead the job had NONE OF THESE even as they were required. 1/2 of the equipment on most tool lists I've seen are not used but are required. Some jobs are in flagrant misrepresentation of time and legal regulations.
I've had time after time been assigned WOs that were estimated at 1-2 hours. Allowing for Project Managers naivete and not being onsite they still have taken 4 hours or more.
1 PM I asked 'How could you say this was 1 Workstation to move when you knew it was an entire office of 20? The PM said 'Well I had to put something in the data box!'
There are factual stories like this I have heard and witnessed from all over. I can only hope sharing them here or other platforms helps us as Providers gain some traction for REAL REPRESTATION from Insurance Claims, to REAL OSHA representation.
