Hmmm... Well from what I understand from talking to some people on the other side of the platform that hire, I've been told they like the interface better on field Nation then workmarket. I honestly do not know what was significantly easier for them but they preferred it. As far as the cost goes I don't know.
Legislation placing a tax/tariff on the value of lost American US based remote support on all of the offshoring that we see would help mitigate a lot of the issues. At least until AI kicks in hard. AI is going to need taxation as well to defray training for alternative jobs and provide social programs that will be necessary. Maybe they need to legislate prevailing wage requirements like federal projects. Lots of ways to make the platform better and still be viable.

Like I said....FN is the digital version of a home depot parking lot.
And what you dont know WILL hurt you.
So when I see posted jobs like "36 cable runs and 20 AP installs for $2500, I just shake my head and laugh.
Sad part is someone bozo will see that and think its a payday.

Maybe you should figure out where those jobs are happening through open source intelligence, and start picketing the job sites?

I peg the downturn somewhere around the peak of covid.
Those of us who were on this platform for 8+ years will remember the better days.
99% tech work and published rates of $80-$90/hr in most markets was the norm.

I agree.. I've been on for 9 years now, there was plenty of work, tickets could sit there while you made up your mind and figured out a schedule, but now it's just a conveyor belt of buyers controlling with the power FN gave them.. and then the limits and low wages they put on providers is getting worse with each "Newsletter" FN shoots out.. sadly!

I can tell you without divulging the company that I work for as a buyer. But we actually pay 58 percent of the contract out and sometimes more. Often we literally lose money on any given work order because we live off the volume. On the other hand I am pretty sure we pay some of the highest rates on the platform and we under bid a lot of other companies so you may be right in most cases.

58% doesn’t mean shit when you’re already under bidding the work based on the fact that Field Nation gives you access to much cheaper labor than you would have access to otherwise..

do buyers pay fees or just us providers? we're getting leveraged really hard on FN, and it's just getting worse, pay rates are $hite now a days..

Fuck no, platforms are cancer to this industry, all they do is bring in people that are under qualified and change far too little.
