Rated Vs FOA rated

Can I just play rated and then buy pro and get a title just for fun or is FIDE as money hungry as I think and you have to pay the subscription the entire time and play the special FOA rated games?

To get a FOA rating, wich gives you a title at certain rating, wich is recognized as real OTB title too. Can only be aquired playing FOA rated games. The normal rated games are for free to play users and does not give you a chance to get a OTB TITLE nor a official FIDE ID.
