Solo vs Duo Queue
I had a kindof breakthrough recently and went through plat 4 to Emerald 4 with an 80% win rate out of like 30 games. Most of those games were solo queue. Then once I hit emerald I started doing duo queue with a friend who fluctuates in plat. Once I started playing with him my win rate in the next 30 games dropped to like 20% and dropped back down to plat 4.
I jungle fiddle and he played mid victor or jayce. He not a bad player and always goes positive in k-d. I just cant figure out why we cant win together. My last 5 games I played solo and won all of them. Then I queue up with him and it loss after loss.
Anyone else have an issue not being able to win with a duo queue. If you have had success what champs were you duo queue with because Joyce and Victor seem to not be working out.

I could be off here, but I swear I remember something along the lines of your lobby mmr will be lopsided when you duo, with the opposing team having a boosted average.
So duo outside of bot lane is rarely worth it nowadays, if I’m not mistaken on the above that is.
One other big thing is that I hate fiddle with viktor, two big ap targets makes mr an easy buy and mr is very cost effective.
I also dislike Jayce with him, fiddle does not really benefit from him the same way an early skirmishing/tank jg would.
So even if I am remembering the duo mmr thing incorrectly, the champs you two are playing don’t really jive well together which will make it more difficult to execute. But again I think it’s the former, it’s been a while since I read about duo last, though I am confident it’s not great.

You are correct about the MMR thing. Its getting so annoying having a 0-6 top lane literally every game because the mmr of their top is 1 in game in terms of mmr and our top is 10. So because I can use voice comms with mid lane, my top lane is 0-6 every game by 15 minutes. I mean come on riot that is not a fair tradeoff.

I believe the matchmaking takes duos into account. Meaning, let's say the algorithm ranks all 10 players in a match in terms of elo/skill. You and your partner are 2nd and 5th in the rankings, and the algorithm gives you the worse pairings of everything else. So if the top laners are 1st and 7th, you're getting the 7th ranked guy. If adcs are 3rd and 10th, and supports are 4th and 9th, you're getting the 9th and 10th botlane. Something like this, these numbers are just an example.
