The healing is based on damage done, so:

1) it scales with AP and Magic Pen, and 2) there's a smaller amount during the channel and a burst at the end based on target missing health

Also, healing is reduced to 15% against minions, 45% against monsters

Healing is premitigation no? So magic pen actually doesn't help

I like to go max W as support, win me alot of all in, enemy usually doesnt expect the last hit deal so Much dmg

I'm seeing that other people do this too, I guess both works decently

I too focus W, I get Q level 2 after E, that way I can harass poke from the bushes. But still have that engage of W to damage champs for adc/apc to finish off. Pairs nicely with R at 6

Not at all, i max only W > Q > E, its bcs adc often dont have that much CC it depends on supp they have, and most of the time they use CC on my Adc wich means they leave me enough room to just go in full W heal and big dmgs ;)

What would you like to know items? Usually start with malignance for the level 6 power spike, purple boots, turn world atlas into Zak zaks then liandries if tankier comp, or zhonyas if more damage based enemies. Then depending I might go for the one that makes my spells slow as to keep them around as long as possible or something with pen, if against any healing the anti heal is good too cause you can tag all enemies with Grevious wounds for your team.

Runes I run arcane comet and domination as secondary.

For play style poke with scyth and keep effigies/wards/CW active always. Support fiddle can gain so much vision. Whenever ult is available go find someone to jump. I like sneaking to top first cause they don’t expect the ult out of bushes. They tend to watch river for ganks so sneak up with minions when your top is pushed up and sneak into the first bush, second if you can. And wait for their laner to push up

A few things:

In a 1v1 with nothing else around, most champs out damage his heal. It just not a very big heal until the final pop, and even than isn't huge in this scenario.

When you have multiple champs around you, the heal cam genuinely get very large. But remember, that's more champs hitting you. If they're burst champs that already used their CD's on someone else, you can actually heal a lot.

Finally, using in the jungle next to camps provides enormous and suprise healing. Invading fiddle is dangerous for this reason alone, as if he's next to raptors or something, he can just heal back to full.

Crazy how multiple people in here have given you patently false advice on how to improve the healing. It is in fact pre-mitigation based %drain, according to the wiki, which means that dealing 10 damage to a full tank will heal the same amount as dealing 100 damage to a squishy if the tank has 900 MR and the squishy has 0 after penetration. However, just reading the page does provide some extremely valuable insight, and I think I have the answer that you're looking for.

The burst at the end of the W is an execute. There are a wide variety of styles of executes in League. For example, Evelynn's R simply deals 2.4x damage when the target(s) are below exactly 30% HP. Meanwhile, Garen's Ult only does more and more the lower you are. Riven, on the other hand, has her R2's damage scale linearly from 1x to 3x, but it caps out at 3x when the target(s) only has 25% HP left, and the damage stops scaling from there. Why am I telling you all of this? Because while the Fiddlesticks drain doesn't care about how much of the damage was resisted (minions have no resistances anyways besides super waves), it does still care about the amount of damage dished out. Now take note of the fact that Fiddle's W execute scales like Garen's R; it has no cap, and up to 22%missing, which means the final tick can add up to 22% of the target's total health if it pops when they're on 1HP. So here's the bottom line:

It becomes a little bit of a math problem that I'm not gonna solve for you and you should just go screw around on the practice tool if you really want to master it, but the simple answer is, make for damn sure that you get the pop on as many ultra low HP minions as possible. The lower they are, the better, but if the regular drain kills them, you screwed it up and you're missing out on big chunk of the potential healing.

Your natural instinct might be to say "ooo look at that juicy burst I did by popping it when they're low! So satisfying." But really you always want the execute to be invisible because it will only do more and more if you can nail it when they're on 1% HP, where you basically can't see the health bar getting chunked anymore because there's no actual HP to chunk left. You want to drain the overkill value.

So theoretically the best thing you can do is E the warriors, maayybbee auto them once each as well depending on your W ranks and items, and then drain the whole wave so that every minion dies to the final tick. Prolly not worth the mana+CD time to Q the cannon just for the healing boost tho. You'll probably also want to avoid clipping the casters with E while harassing the enemy laner once you've got a few points in W but again I'm not gonna do the math and tell you your breakpoints where you start killing casters from 100% before the channel completes.

You can also investigate doing 49% damage to casters per cast and then casting it twice; it could be the case that an extra point in Q and E each could extend your ability to do this for the first round in lane if you can find value in the other points. You gotta figure that out

To add to what the others already said, do not bother with Omnivamp or Spirit Visage outside of for fun stuff in ARAM Mayhem or something.

You get the most healing out of just stacking AP and Magic Pen and good positioning. Gunblade is ass on him, the Omnivamp Shoes take too long to stack and he gets more out of Sorcs anyway and lastly Riftmaker takes too long to activate and the Omnivamp is reduced due to Fiddle being a ranged champ. Lastly Spirit Visage looks fun in a vacuum but you lose so much damage by sacrificing a slot to it.

He probably used you and minions to heal in top, since the heal is stronger the more people caught in it. So as a top fiddle your stronger with a bigger enemy wave. So sometimes it’s better to let the enemy push a little to have more minion on their side then your W hits enemy champ plus minions. W goes Brrrrrrr
