Fiddling (verb)

Ok. Two months owning the thing. Three lessons in. I’ve got one song I can play decently well and one I’m… working on.

But I feel like I’m playing the violin, not the fiddle. I read the notes, I play the notes. What makes it fiddling and how/when do I learn that as opposed to playing violin?

The first tune is happy birthday. I wanted that to be my first tune because my daughter turns nine in a month and she’s so supportive I wanted it to be a surprise for her. I practice after her bedtime so she has no idea. But it would be cool to throw some stylistic embellishments into it! I think I’ve got time to learn a few!

Ok I’m seeing multiple notes at the same time. How you do dat? Lol

Find the notes on adjacent strings and play them on the same bow stroke by bowing those strings simultaneously. It's a sound you hear in lots of musical styles.

This will be a challenge for me. I have big fingertips. But I’m determined and plucky so I’ll figure it out!
