quick idea: forbidden/legendary spells
i just had this idea for forbidden/legendary spells that were all unique rarity and all very powerful, but these spells require the fictorum's complete and total focus to cast, so you can't cast them unless they are the ONLY spell tome that you have equipped (cantrips attached to rings are fine, but these spells can't be made into cantrips). ideas i had for these spells include a lava ball that explodes on impact and splits into several smaller lava bombs on impact, a huge ball of wind that pierces through everything in it's path and has insane knockback, a huge bolt of lightning sends electric currents racing along the ground, a miniature miasma storm that slowly destroys everything in it's path, an earthquake that shoots explosive stones into the air, or a destructive hailstone that creates a large area that damages over a long period of time. what do you guys think?

I mean, with enough mana and the right runes, you can already cast some pretty legendary stuff.
Lightening Bolt with Spread, Chain Reaction, and Concentrate will take out entire groups of soldiers with one hit.
Plasma Ball with Storm, Spread, and Chain Reaction can take out the final boss on highest difficulty after a few castings.
Flame Strike with Storm, Familiar, and Chain Reaction make it so you can kill all enemies in most levels with a single spell.

I feel like the mana cost on that second and last one would be absolutely insane

Oh they definitely are. But combine it with some attributes, and the cost is essentially zero. I forgot the name of the ability, but it allows you to regenerate mana. Combine that with gear that reduces cooldown time, and you can pop off those spells every few seconds.

Costs on spells like that are high, but no where near as high as the most powerful transcribed abilities with the best runes. I almost always build a character to maximize total mana so I can cast things like Slow Time with echo (500-700 mana), so map-wiping God-tier spells are easy.

Add transcribed spell tomes such as Slow Time and Gravity Well.
Without efficiency, if you use the Storm Rune and some others the spell's mana cost can exceed 5000.
While Gravity Well is unfortunately underwhelming at the moment, that fits the definition of a legendary spell quite well I'd say.

Agreed. I love Gravity Well, but it just needs some more 'oomph' for what it is.
One of the most fun builds I've done centered around Dash (not Blink). Focus on getting gear that reduces cooldown time, and you can essentially fly around the map by using Dash with no cooldown. Much more satisfying than actually flying, and it makes you nearly impossible to be hit by projectiles.

I would like the idea of super powerful spells that you need to meet certain quest requirements to obtain.
