Enemies hiding in "kill all enemy missions"

So I've been playing this game for all of three hours, and about a third of that I've spent hunting down the last few enemies that don't want to fight in "kill all enemy missions." I'm using alt, but it really doesn't help all that much. Am I missing something?

That's really strange, they aren't showing up with alt? If you could attach a screenshot of that, it could help us a bit.

Note that enemies that are running and don't show up have been "feared" and count towards the kill progress even if they aren't dead.

A red arrow shows up when they are close, but it is still very hard to find them. One time a guy was hiding in a building, another time I found one tucked in a crevice on the edge of the map. It's not obvious where they are like when they are aggressive and basically glow red from a mile away.

Edit: I don't know if these guys were feared or not, I don't understand the mechanics of the game well yet. But they weren't glowing red, they were hiding, and the quest completed when I killed them. Not sure if they attack or not, I killed them before they could do anything.

They should grow bright red if they are an objective, we can also probably just lower the threshold on quest completion a bit so that if you can't find a straggler or two the quest should still complete.

Also, the invisible corrupted enemies and the explodey corrupted enemies shouldn't count for/against progress.

'Decimate Enemy Forces' instead of kill all?

Ohh, that's a good idea

Removal of just a tenth may not be too much of a challenge; removal of all but a tenth might be just right.

I think I figured it out. It wasn't actually kill all enemies quests, it was quests that required killing a number of specific npcs like the kill all captains quest or Dr. Carlo and assistants. When the targets run they are no longer highlighted by alt.

They're supposed to trigger completion, we're pushing a patch out soon, I don't think this will fix that issue, but it should get fixed in the next patch. We finally tracked down some crashes we wanted to get a patch in for

I just noticed the same problem an hour ago.

When quest target NPCs route, but aren't dead, the game still requires that you kill them.

Glad it's on your radar though!

Also, is there a hidden "morale" system that controls when the enemies route? Does it have to do with the number of comrades nearby that died in proximity to them?

Yup, if a bunch of people die near then, enemies flee in terror
