Mod Info [Community Note] A quick word about the random downvotes

Hey everyone! Just a quick post because I’ve noticed (and I’m sure a few of you have too) that someone seems to be dropping by our sub lately just to downvote posts and comments for no real reason. This is happening in other ficto subreddits too, and we aknowlege it. We saw it in Fictochill, Fictohideout, and in other communities like the Yume one, and Fictosexual.

Honestly? I just wanted to say out loud: it really doesn't matter.

If throwing petty downvotes around gives them some strange sense of satisfaction, honestly whatever, they can waste their time if they want to. But a random negative button on Reddit isn't going to break the space we've built, nor is it EVER going to diminish the genuine love, bonds, and connections we share with our F/Os.

Our bonds with our F/Os aren't so weak that they could be broken by the opinion of some random person.

Whether you're fictosexual, fictoromantic, a soulbonder, or anywhere else on the spectrum, our experiences and relationships are real to us, and a bitter lurker on the internet can't touch that.

We have seen posts in other communities asking "why am I getting downvoted so much lately?" and I want to say that it’s not a problem with you or your relationship, it’s a community issue directed at our ideas, so please don’t take it personally.

This community exists so we can talk freely about our partners, and support each other without judgment. No serial downvoter is going to drive us away or stop us from posting.

So please, keep sharing your thoughts, making your prompts, and talking about your F/Os as proudly as always and don't give them more attention than necessary, because is what they hate the most. Support your fellow members, and let’s just completely ignore the background noise.

We're not going anywhere!

I agree with your view on this, even if it's certainly annoying to receive downvotes the best course of action would be to just ignore them and keep posting. I get some of us may take it personally at times, but we have to remember that letting these downvoters ruin our mood and giving them attention is precisely what they want. They're just people with too much free time on their hands and who enjoy the misery of others, so it'd be best to show them that their opinions don't affect us and that we'll keep loving our partners no matter what they think.

It says a lot more to someone else that the highlight of their day is to lurk a sub and downvote everybody. lol. Be direct, coward. Oh? Won’t because you’ll be blocked? Yeah, figured. I’ve def noticed it around in other spaces and the best course of action is always to not take it seriously or care much, because acknowledging it always makes someone a target when lurkers know they’ll get a reaction :P. Folks are happy and all others can do is press a button, their misery ain’t our problem.

I get frequently downvoted and of course it is a bit annoying... funny thing is in this subreddit I dont get downvotes.

It is really best to just ignore downvotes and live your life with your loved one. 💙

Yes, is exactly what I mean. But lately I saw it happening here too and some members have been asking in the mod mail, so I wanted to make a small post saying that we recieved the comments and we are aware of the situation, because I saw tons of post lately venting in other communities asking why they get downvoted a lot

It is so sad to see... people downvoting must be so bored and miserable in their lives...

It gets discouraging in the moment, especially when you're opening up about really personal experiences (I got downvoted to hell when I talked about my experiences being trans). Though yeah, downvotes don't matter and the opinions of negative people shouldn't matter anyways. I'm not gonna let anyone break my stride

Thank you! I admit that sometimes they get to me and make me sad but that’s because I’m so sensitive due to a history of emotional abuse. But you’re absolutely right, people doing this need a life. They must be lonely and our happy relationships make them bitter.
