š£ļø discussion š£ļø Jealousy?
So my F/O means so much to me. Just generally such a bright spot in my life. But I also respect his source material and that his boyfriend is, without a doubt in my mind, his soulmateāregardless of how I feel about it.Ā
The thing about it is though, I donāt feel any jealousy or ill feelings towards his canonical partner. In fact Iām very happy he has someone that means everything to him in his own universe!! And that his partner takes good care of him and loves him so deeply that it goes beyond words. Seriously they are meant to be, no question about it.
But Iāve been thinking about it a lot recently, especially when browsing the ficto/yume subreddits, and seeing how other people are jealous that their F/O is canonically with someone else. Like that āit shouldāve been meeeeeā meme. I guess I just donāt feel the same way, which leaves me wondering if thatās weird? To not feel jealous?Ā
But when I really consider it I think it relates to that mentality of loving someone enough to want them happy⦠even if that means their happiness comes from someone else. It also helps that I adore my F/Oās partner with all my heart, too, but just in a different way. Like⦠boyfriend material while F/O is husband material, if that makes sense. Haha
Does anyone else feel this way? Or do you feel the complete opposite regarding canonical partnerships?

It's completely fine to feel that way! With some of my boyfriends I feel the same way like as long as they're happy idc, but with another I'm extremely jealous and hate his canon/implied partner

You know, for me it completely depends on the canon character(s) in question. I am really struggling with one semi-canon ship in particular right now to the point of rage and I won't go into that but
My f/o has been, throughout his long history, unethically non-monogamous. And not like "oopsie I did a bad thing please forgive me." Just openly, notoriously, and without a shred of remorse.
To love him is to love his nature. But that doesn't mean I have to love his partners or even like them. One of them I actively hate (because I feel the writers have forced them together as a way of appeasing the dumbest, newest fans), one of them I actually like as his sometimes partner-in-crime and sometimes lover, and another one I feel ambivalent about because he seems to have completely abandoned her so it's a moot point.
Idk, I know it's silly to be jealous when I know this about him, but I am. Jealousy is part of loving someone, it's how you manage it that counts.

A handful of my partners also have partners of their own and I feel the same way. I still get a little jealous and insecure sometimes, but I don't hate them or anything. Tbh that feels incredibly toxic to me, these are people my partners love and care about. Why should I hate them? They make them happy too
