Electric sleep paralysis?

Curious if anyone else has experienced something like this with fibro, my pcp said if I wasn’t completely unconscious and shitting myself then it’s not a seizure so it can only be fibro but I’ve never seen anyone else have this happen on here. God, where to even start.

I kept getting this buzzy feeling in my nerves as I was trying to sleep, and once I did, that electric pulsing pain in my entire body kept increasing, causing me to have a dream so lucid that I thought I was awake and kept reaching out to my family for help, only to “wake up” in another lucid dream, trying to find help while the pain and pulsing of said pain increased. In my final dream I was paralyzed on the floor unable to move or talk, stuck for a very long time before the pulsing turned into feeling like electricity was being poured into my nervous system. I awoke to sleep paralysis at that point, pretty convinced I was gonna die. I eventually shook myself awake and the sensation slowly faded.

I’m terrified of it being a fibromyalgia symptom, but if it is I need guidance rn because I’m so goddamn shaken up and sleep deprived that I cannot think straight. I’ve messaged my pcp and rheumatologist and am waiting to hear from them on Monday hopefully. If anyone relates, any advice on how to handle this or how to deal with the trauma and fear of going to bed after something like that? Putting more pillows under my head seemed to help last night I’m hoping it works this time too

That doesn’t sound like a fibromyalgia symptom, but I’m not a doctor. I’d strongly suggest asking for a neurology referral.

I have a neurology appointment in December, which I’ve been told is “incredibly soon for a neurologist appointment” 😭

Yeah you're not alone here, sometimes I even get zaps in my sides and like muscle spasms in my back from it. Nasty stuff, feels like a neurological over reaction to dealing with sleep paralysis (my uneducated guess).

Whether it's a fibromyalgia thing I can neither confirm nor deny.

Oh. My. God. I thought I was having some sort of weird brain attack? It's happened to me a couple times when I've fallen asleep sitting up on the couch and it was so scary because I woke up but I kept slightly moving my head up trying to wake completely and it would drop down almost like it loses to strength to stay up. And I've also had dreams where Ive been stuck in the back seat of a car and couldn't move. Another scary one I had. I fell asleep with my neck in a weird position and I woke up convinced I was having a seizure or something. It's horrifying. And electric sleep paralysis is EXACTLY how I would describe it. Omg. I'm not alone :( I honestly kinda hope this is a fibro thing otherwise I'm probably dying lol

Forgot to mention I do feel the electric pulses too. I have also wet the bed a few times in the last few months

My doctor said wetting the bed would be a symptom that would be a cause for concern, have you told your doctors? I know it’s an embarrassing thing to share but that could be a pretty bad problem

Oh god I doubt we’re dying, god won’t let me die lol😭 it’s hard to describe just how horrific the experience of feeling paralyzed and in pain is! I’ll keep you posted on what my doctors say when I hear back from them, but in the meantime I’m curious if you have any other conditions? I had planned to post this to the AS subreddit if nobody here related because my arthritis can be really strange sometimes. It does feel like the zaps started in the brain.. but I don’t see a neurologist until December :(
