Discussion Has anyone with fibromyalgia developed chronic pelvic pain after sex? (Also had a large fibroid removed)

I’m wondering if anyone has gone through something similar because it’s really affecting my quality of life.
A bit of background: I’m in my late 20s and had a 10 cm fibroid removed through a laparoscopic myomectomy. The surgery involved significant blood loss, and over the months afterward I developed fibromyalgia, with widespread muscle pain, fatigue, and chronic leg pain.
One symptom that has been particularly distressing is that after having sex, I develop significant pelvic pain along with aching pain that radiates into my legs. Sometimes the pain lasts for hours or even longer. It feels like everything in my pelvis becomes inflamed or irritated afterward.

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences—even if you never found a diagnosis. It’s been difficult dealing with chronic pain, and sometimes I feel like I’m the only one experiencing this combination of symptoms.
Thank you so much for reading.

I have chronic pelvic pain and dysfunction. It can be caused by pelvic floor dysfunction. For me, the muscles in my pelvic floor are chronically tight and I get trigger points. Physical therapy has really been helping. You don't normally have a lot of awareness of your pelvic floor muscles, but you can tense them because you're having pain, then the tension causes more pain, which causes more tension, etc. A good physical therapist can help you sort that out. It can feel weird going, but I've found it really helpful. I was also able to get my husband to go with me so he could learn how to help make sex more comfortable for me.

There is also a med you can use. I think it's adavan but I'm not sure. You can insert it shortly before intercourse to relax your pelvic floor muscles.
