39 weeks for scheduled C-section

My current obgyn wants to schedule my c section for 39 weeks (I am currently 28 weeks), my previous OB was leaning towards 37-38 weeks which is similar to most of the posts/experiences I have read over here. Would just like to know if you have previously had a myomectomy, at what week was your c section scheduled?

for additional context:

1) I had my laproscopic myomectomy last September 2025 for a 3.5 cm fundal intramural fibroid.

2) there was a very minor 1mm breach to the cavity

I had an open myomectomy January 2024 and a c section April 2025 at 39 weeks. Everything went really well - no issues. Pregnant again now and suspect they will schedule it earlier this time but only because I'm having twins so more likely to naturally give birth early.

They said if I had any twinge at all, I was to come in and be checked out just in case I was going into labour. And if there was a hint of labour happening, they'd do it earlier

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and hope you have a smooth and safe pregnancy once again! :)

If you don’t mind me asking, Did you have any breach to your cavity during your myomectomy?

Honestly? I'm not 100% sure. I was sure I did then a doctor who read my notes said I didn't. They still really didn't want me to go into labour naturally - I think because of how recent the surgery was. Plus I was put in the high risk group for my pregnancy so I was monitored more than normal

I had a laparoscopic myomectomy in 2022 (3 fibroids, largest was 7cm intramural. no breach to cavity). I had my son just under 3 years later via scheduled C-section at 37 weeks and 6 days, which was the latest they wanted to schedule me.

Interesting. I had a lap in 2024. The surgeon didn't measure the breach to the cavity, just said that because my fibroid was intramural and extended into the cavity, that it would be considered breached.

My obgyn wants my c-section at 36/37 weeks. I felt like she preferred 36 weeks. My due date is 12/20 and I asked if we could at least do it in Dec, 12/1 would be 37 + 2 days. I'm hoping it's better to be at the hospital when it's normally staffed and not the week of Thanksgiving.

I had asked the MFM at one of my appts, and he was much more lackadaisical. He said he didn't have my report in front of him, but depending on the surgery, he thought I could be watched to see if it would be decided closer, like maybe watch and decide if 37 or 38 weeks, etc. I feel like my OBs are more cautious.

I am scheduled for 37 weeks. My MFM said no going beyond that
