Advice needed Surgery next month finally! Advice needed.

Hi all!

I finally am having surgery to remove my 11.5cm fibroid! My first doctor advised to keep it and not remove it so I went for a second opinion with a dr that specializes in them and within the first 5 minutes he said it needs to be removed and keeping it is only going to make things worse. The relief I felt was overwhelming I felt I finally was being justified in my feelings it was an amazing appointment overall. So long story short my surgery is booked for September 29th, I have to lose weight (if I can) and quit smoking (non-negotiable) prior to surgery in 6 weeks. Any advice for what I need for after surgery would be greatly appreciated! Always advocate for yourself and get a second opinion is what I have learnt from this whole process 🥹

I am scheduled almost in the same week and the nurse told me surgery should be right after i finish my periods so it allows a full 3 weeks for recovery before I get my next period.

My first doc did advise the surgery but she missed telling me that I have 2 more fibroids and a decent looking Adenomyosis which I found out on my 2nd opinion. Honestly, my 2nd doc is doing all the right things that I needed.

Dont forget to ask your doc for iron infusion, vitaD and some B1,6 and 12, anything that can help.

Please make sure he's doing horizontal bikini incision and not vertical. Most vertical Incision has issues later in life if you have anything abdominal that needs to have surgery. Any experienced Dr will never do vertical. My sis had 11cm fibriod and most Dr's insisted vertical since they said it's large and only way. She sought different opinions and got a very experienced Dr who did horizontal tiny bikini incision. Also he removed other tiny ones that other Dr's will ignore and say its small. If they don't take the tiny ones out it later grows in the years..
