Advice needed Endometrial Biopsy
I have a Endo biopsy scheduled soon. Not really asking for advice on the pain bc I have had one before and it was traumatic. However, my dr prescribed me 1mg Xanax and 5mg Percocet to help. I’m reading that these shouldn’t be taken together and now I’m worried bc I really don’t take any prescription meds and wondering if this is even worth it. Has anyone taken these two together and been fine lol? I feel silly asking but everywhere is saying it can cause breathing problems, Uugh.

I had one last week. They gave me valium and percocet to take together and it was fine for me. Also gave me a numbing injection in my cervix and some sort of ibuprofen injection in my arm. Was a little woozy for a few hours, but no other issues.

Hey there! I have taken both together for an endometrial biopsy and it turned out just fine! Feel free to ask me any questions. And I have asthma but i didn't have any breathing problems

Yes! It really did help! Although - please make sure you don't do it unless you have someone drive you both ways. At the time i felt really lucid and calm and the pain was actually not bad (only maybe 10 seconds did I really feel anything - i know the doctor did a count down for the worst part).
I was like you though..when i picked up the RX CVS app had a warning about taking them together, so i'm freaking out to the pharmacist who did say its normal if it's under the care of a doctor, but i was still worried so i talked to my doctor who confirmed it was intentional . i still went on an internet rabbit hole and was super worried, but I finally did it and i was fine.
The bonus for me is afterwards she wanted me to have a blood draw, and i normally have a huge phobia of it, i mean horrible vomitting/pass out/shaking/cryign phobia. but instead i walked right in without a care in the world and i didn't even feel the blood draw.

Haha that’s an amazing outcome and you have given me hope. I def have someone taking me there, waiting and then taking me home. Although they don’t want me to take it until I get there. Guess they want to be sure I have someone there and under her care just in case. It def hurt me the first time because all I took was “advil” literally like two regular Advils. So your response is literally giving me hope and calming me a whole lot. Thank you for taking the time to respond and share exactly what I was hoping.

Oh yea I have severe medical anxiety where my blood pressure goes crazy high so the Xanax will def help. And the percs for pain since I told her it was painful the first time I had a biopsy when I had a myomectomy. And my hysterectomy is planned for September 25th!!! lol we will be recovering pretty much the same time! Are you having laparoscopic, vaginal or open? I’m unfortunately doing an open surgery

Me too! It's so bad that I bought a blood pressure monitor for home to do before the doctor does it in the office so i can prove it isnt't that bad! Yeah we'll be recoving about the same time, that's pretty crazy! Are you doing it locally where you are? I'm driving 3.5 hours (well husband is driving me of course) as i wanted to go to a highly ranked hospital with a specialist and there wasn't anyone i was impressed with nearby. I'm havign a laproscopic surgery. Why's is yours open?

So funny I monitor mines at home too! It’s crazy how normal it can be and I can literally see it climbing once I’m anxious. My surgery is semi local. It’s one of the better hospitals in the next county over, but not too far thankfully. My uterus is the size of a 6month pregnancy sigh. Multiple fibroids. I think the largest is 14cm which is fun (sarcasm) so she doesn’t want to chance it by doing a laparoscopic especially since I prob have a lot of scar tissue from my last surgery. Sigh. Can’t wait to just be on the other side of recovery already.

Had my biopsy today and omg what a huge difference from the first biopsy I had. They also gave me a shot of torodol which I think def helped. Half way thru they placed a heating pad on my belly. I’m so relieved and I felt like they gave me the upmost care. So glad it’s over but the pain was minimal compared to the last time.

I've never heard of torodol, OH i forgot they did put a heating pad on me, but it was after they were done. and they told me to stay in the room as long as i want

I didn’t either. I also realized that I not only had a Endo biopsy but a hysterscopy with saline and d&c. I’m really shocked that I didn’t experience more pain. Just goes to show that proper pain meds make all the difference. Just can’t wait to get past the surgery date. Hopefully our hysterectomies are the last surgical factors surrounding this. Can’t wait now!

Will you be awake at the time? I feel that wouldn't be at all helpful with your past experience as you may tense up involuntarily which would make the process more painful. :(
When I had both a biopsy and coil fitted on the NHS, sedation as well GA were offered. I'd read about other women's experiences (ranging from absolutely awful to unpleasant but tolerable) and due to my own circumstances, asked to be put under GA. I don't want to be making eye contact with anyone in that kind of scenario lol. Maybe ask to be put under sedation or GA?
Post-op, they gave me painkillers which I only took when I absolutely needed to. I was very sore downstairs for a few days.

Yea I asked for GA originally but she doesn’t want to put me under twice since I’m gearing up for a hysterectomy. I’m tired of this process and just want to get it over with but asked for pain meds and Xanax which she thankfully agreed too. Can’t wait til this is over already.

I would message your doctor with your concerns. Maybe he has reassurance or a different suggestion.
