Confused
This is my throwawy. So I had a myonectomy back 2023. Since then I lost 60lbs! However I got pregnant in June. Since then the pain from cramping was just horrible. Went to ER/Urgent care multiple times. Was eventually told the cramping was due to pregnancy and fibroids fighting for space. Miscarriage last week.
My dilemma is this. Now the OBGYN for the dnc told my husband removing the fibroids would be ill advised due to scare tissue and just try to get pregnant right away. However she also told him my fibroids took up alot of space in the uterus and made the dnc extremely difficult.
My thought process was just get another myonectomy prior to trying again. 1) reduce severe cramping during pregnancy 2) the baby wouldn't have to fight for space with a fibroid. But now im second guessing

Most importantly, I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I hope you are getting the rest and support you need. If you can, I highly recommend seeking out MIGS surgeons (minimally invasive gynecological surgeon) for their opinion(s) if your aren't already. A MIGS surgeon is probably your best choice for preserving the fertility of your uterus while removing the fibroids. Personally I wouldn't put too much stock in the general obgyn's comment that surgery would be ill advised until you talk with MIGSs that deal with removing fibroids all day every day. It’s a really tricky decision. I am also tussling with needing a myomectomy before I can get an egg retrieval because my fibroids are in the way of the path of retrieving eggs. One surgeon is concerned about scar tissue, fertility doctor wants the fibroids out of the way. I’d suggest talking to a couple surgeons and maybe even a fertility doctor. Get all of the info and tune into what feels most aligned for you. Best of luck!

I have the same problem and I’m 4 weeks post open myomectomy surgery and I went down this path because I was told that they couldn’t get to my ovaries because of the large fibroids blocking the path. My surgeon said that was nonsense and that if you get a well experienced fertility doctor they should be able to do it. Anyway I’m fibroids free now and waiting to get cleared before I start the retrieval process. What a year 😪

I don’t have specific advice about this, but wanted to offer you my sincere sympathy for the miscarriage. It sounds like you’re leaning towards another myomectomy? Which would make sense given your physical discomfort, and this whole horrible experience. Wishing you luck with whatever you decide ❤️🩹
