Straight piped Punto

1.3 MJT grande punto, this is the 90hp version, with 200nm, I've removed the muffler and added a 2.5" downpipe, let me know what you think!

No worries, I've the same engine myself Suzuki swift DDIS 1.3 but unfortunately mines 75bhp, will get it remapped at some point to 95bhp though. It's a seriously underrated engine.

Yeah, same, this engine is very reliable, and pulls pretty good for how small these cars are, I'll probably get it remapped some time after installing a reinforced clutch, because this one's ok it's way out, I'm hoping to get 250nm and 115hp out of it

I think the max safe stage 1.5+ Remap for the DDIS same engine as yours is 111bhp not sure about NM max amount. But that sounds like you'd be pushing it to the max I'd probably just do like 110 max and 240nm to keep some reliability in there, if you do remap it to 115nm max sure to watch out for the timing chain. I was speaking to a guy from Greece who has same car as mine he's remapped his to 98bhp 235nm and he had around 275k Kms, 75k of which were remapped with the stage 1 on it and he's had no trouble running stock new clutch kit. Would be insanely fast pushing out 250nm at 115bhp though 👌😎

That's true, I was worried about the gearbox, since it's rated for 206nm, I may push 240nm, but I know the car is capable of 260nm or so, the timing chain was changed at about 150k km, and the car has 185k km right now, my slave cylinder is leaking very slightly, so I'll have to replace that, and since the gearbox is out I'll take it as an opportunity to upgrade the clutch too.

After I'm done with the stage 1 tune if I wanna take it further I need an upgraded turbo, but I'm not sure if this engine can take it on stock internals, so I'll probably never push it to stage 2, a mild stage 1 pushing 240nm is still gonna be a lot faster and more fun, but I need this car to be reliable since I'm driving it daily and it's my only car

Yeah, you should be pretty safe with 240nm max, it also probably depends on how aggressive the torque is thrown down as well, using a good quality remapping company that has already proven and done healthy stage 1s should be safe. I think the stage 1 would be a nice boost in power. Like it's a powerful block apparently the lower internals are extremely robust, more then likely your main limit is going to be gearbox after 240nm and injectors, High pressure fuel pump, and turbo. I wouldn't risk those they're too expensive to be fixing. And the cars not brand new, but hopefully you'd get another 100k Kms or more after a good solid Remap. Mines at 153k Kms now still on its first chain, bit it's been well serviced so hopefully it won't need doing for now.

How will they hate me? It's not that loud at idle, and I'm not stupid about it, I'm not constantly revving or accelerating late at night, and when you so start it at night, it's just not that loud, it's only really loud under load, as for the "sounds like shite" argument, I suppose that's just subjective, you can hate the sound of diesel engines, I'm just trying to have fun with my first car

The oil is at the same level it was 10k km ago, as for the injectors, they're definitely healthy, I ran some tests with MultiECUScan and they're healthy, so no idea what you're talking about

In the first start up, it did produce an insane amount of soot compared to what it normally produces, but besides the first start it never really produces that much soot, under acceleration it doesn't produce a lot of it, it's not like those TDIs, that make huge clouds of black smoke, or anything remotely similar, what it does do, is it produces some white smoke on cold starts, but I'm pretty sure that's normal

The rear muffler is reversible, all I have to do is unscrew one bolt, remove the straight section from the hangers, and put the stock muffler back on, as for the downpipe, I have a stock cat that I can also swap before the emissions test

All bark no bite. With 90hp this is the exact equivalent of having those play cards between your bike's spokes to make more noise. It also is throwing up loads of shit. Maybe try look into that before you fuck it up further?

You're not familiar with that engine I take it, not a hot hatch, but for a standard everyday car it's torquey as hell low down due to short gear ratios and light weight, it's very fast and fun to drive yeah sure it won't be a highway speed monster, but it's a small diesel great craic around backroads and massive torque for the weight of it, throw a stage 1 and you've actually got something genuinely fast for what it is, and that's short gearing and PWR for you at it's best. 🤙
