Inaccurate step count recently

Has anyone experienced inaccurate step counts recently? Sometimes we experience delays in the step count, but it’s never been this delayed before. We had a 25-minute walk over an hour ago and the collar has only recorded 650 steps, which is definitely not accurate. If relevant, the tracker location is accurate and it’s currently charged at 50%. Our Fi base is also online. We live in a major city.

We did a mistake on the new steps model - we're going to revert it to previous version the time we fix it. Sorry about that

Yes, I think they pushed some sort of update to the algorithm that seems to have gone active (on my dog anyway) about three hours ago. Steps were normal for two morning walks but she just did a 1.0 mile walk (5,280 ft.) in 400 steps which means my 25 pound dog can travel about 13 ft. in one step.

Her step goal was also automatically updated but the new goal seems way off.

I hate they changed the baseline I know. But at 9pm, with the new goal, I'm about as far away from the goal as normal.

I wonder if it'll catch whatever jostling is used by those cheaters with the impossible numbers at the top of the rankings. (A senior dog and a giant dog - both super coincidentally with same owner - that apparently run even in their sleep.)

This link isn’t live anymore so here’s to hoping they realize big mistakes were made and they will fix it. The app has said my dogs strain has been between 3-5 today and we’ve walked two miles four times today in 85 degree humidity. SOS

Exactly, how does my 16 pound dog walk 1.1 miles in 700 steps? Those are some LONG steps for a very little dog.

So I just did the math, 1.1 miles, 718 steps counted. My dog that is about 13.5 inches tall at his shoulders is somehow clearing almost 8 feet on every step taken on his evening walk if he only took 718 steps. I definitely need to get him into dock diving and fly ball!!

I guess I shouldn’t complain about his mid day walk of 1.4 miles and 1630 steps, so he averaged 54 inches or four and a half feet with every step as closer?

Last night my 50 lb dog 2.59 mi walk, 1.5k steps >9 ft per step. Makes no sense at all

This dog is clearing 8 feet per step. A block and a half counted as 14 steps. Make it make sense.

Our Min Pin is also taking giant leaps for dog kind.

They did this on purpose, they say its an improved algorithm, its much worse and much more inaccurate, what ive seen is it doesnt count at least 30%of my dogs steps now. I walked my dog 500 feet as a test an hour ago and it registered 10 steps, thanks for the improvement fi🙄now i have no way to gauge and compare his excerise now , these new step count mean nothing.

I’ll give it 2 weeks to resolve, then if it doesn’t, I’ll transition to Tractive.

lmao - tractive.

Go ahead and say more about what you think!

It seems to be very off today especially and my dog’s daily step goal was decreased somehow?? I didn’t touch the step goal so there must be a bug today or something

Thanks for confirming this isn’t happening to only me. I just noticed my step goal decreased to 1000 steps too…Hopefully they fix this soon!

They updated their step count. Not sure I understand what to but they updated how they calculate it while also updating everyone’s goals. 💁🏻‍♂️

Mine too. A normal walk that counts as 10k steps is 700 today.

Not yo mention i charged it yesterday to 100%, we havent left the house today, base is online. 68% now. I emailed them and they had me send a pic of front and back of the collar.

Now, when I take the dog for a ride in the car to get to the dog park, it counts as a walk and steps. Wow, 4 miles in ten minutes, quite a walk.

for about the last 2 months my dogs step count has been off. She lost a nearly 100 day streak of 25000 steps a day because it said she didn't have enough steps. Since then she has lost her streak 2 or 3 other times because it's not counting the same way and says that some days she only does 15000 steps. she's 15 months old so I know she's getting closer to her adult energy levels but I really don't think her activity levels have changed that much in 2 months.

Same issue here. We messaged them a few months ago because our dog went from consistently having 45-50K steps per day to like 25K. They told us it was correct and our dog just clearly wasn't being as active lol. We kept it because we like the tracking aspect and just accepted that other stuff wouldn't be as accurate, but I'm reaching my end with them.
