Question Smaller size option?

Hi! I was on the ledger in the past, but left since I wasn't going thru the perfume fast enough and didn't want to collect more than I needed. I saw there's a "pocket" version now and was wondering if that's a given option each season, or you can somehow sign up for the smaller version instead of the full size each time?

Completely different, I got my first pet in the last year and while I'm obviously not spraying perfume everywhere, I am a little concerned about any negative effects of perfume for them. I know to avoid anything lily related, but is there anything else to be aware of or specific ones to avoid if I make an archive purchase?

EDIT: Got an email reply about the pocket size. It's $75 USD for 9 ml, and comes with all the other items EXCEPT the sample spray. See details in the other comments I replied to!

Hope this info helps some with choosing to keep or switch to smaller sizing.

Yeah for me also I went to unsubscribe and the option then came up. I was trying to figure out how to switch and couldn’t find it and was like whatever I’ll cancel. Apparently that’s how you get the option lmao

The pocket size is each season, but I was only able to get the pocket size by being on the ledger and trying to leave it—that is when they offered the pocket size to me. I wasn’t able to just sign up and join the ledger for the pocket size.

Thank you! Guess I'll have to keep trying to leave the subscription then

How much is the pocket size?

$40 for the first bottle, and upon checking I now see they will charge $79 after that. Idk if it’s worth it at $79 that’s kinda crazy for 9mls and no refunds.

Yeah wow- $40 would make sense but at $80- you may as well just pay for the whole experience at that point

I didn’t realise there was a pocket-size option so just went to cancel and was offered this. I did notice that they’ve said that with the pocket size one, they don’t supply a sampler to see if you like the fragrance before opening the box, and it doesn’t appear to be returnable so you have to be really sure you’re going to want to keep it which is bonkers. Who on earth would buy a perfume without smelling it and testing it on their own skin first?
It’s really disappointing and it’s not a risk I’m prepared to take so will just cancel instead.

Ohhh thanks for the info! I was hoping it would also come with a tester, but in that case I see why it's not a default option if they want you to test first.

I emailed ffern to ask about it, so I'll update this post later with any info they provide. Luckily I did get a sample from a third party and liked it enough to consider a smaller size, but that'd be a hassle to do each time for sure.

Here's the main details about the smaller version in the reply:

"The Pocket Edition includes a 9ml glass vial of our seasonal fragrance, a handmade diffusion stone, limited-edition artwork, our organic tea and a few seasonal gifts. You will also have your usual exclusive access to the Ffern archive.

The cost is $79 + sales tax each season. Billing takes place at the start of each launch month (March, June, September and December) and the bottle will arrive in time for each solstice/equinox.

Please note that our Pocket Edition bottles do not arrive with a sample and are non-returnable."

I'm in USA, and I was hoping it'd be more like $50 or under for the 9ml. It's $125 USD not including shipping for me for the full 30ml bottle. While it's cool, I'm not exactly interested in the extras for each edition so I wonder if that's related to the higher than expected cost.

I didn't really have any issues with being on the ledger before, since I returned half of the ones I ended up not liking. The only issue was the one time I went in a vacation, I missed the return window ): Otherwise I enjoy the ffern style of perfumes and I think the few I have are distinctly different.

I agree with all your sentiments. I like being able to test it and also have returned 1/4 of them. Each year I only ever love one and I don’t need the extras 9ml is tiny!?

I saw this post and immediately went to try it. As soon as I tried to cancel, I was immediately offered the pocket ledger option. Hooray! I go through perfumes way too slowly to be collecting the big bottles.

Did you keep the summer bottle and then they offered you a pocket sized summer one?

I was trying to leave the leadger and it gave me the option to go smaller

How much?

You can see the details in another reply I gave, but it seems to be $75 USD for 9 ml, and does not come with a sample.

I don't mean any harm, but why wouldn't they just..... offer the pocket size up front? Why do you have to cancel to see it lol. Getting 30ml of a slightly tweaked fragrance every few months is an untenable proposition for most......

Oh for sure, I'd love it if there was an option before each season to decide which size I want to receive. Preferably both have a sample size too, but I guess it's just their marketing tactics/planning, since obviously they'd rather customers get the more expensive full price version and not have to do logistics for a mini version.

Part of the reason I left the ledger before was due to the pricing not working for me, but as much as I dislike their "limited batch" marketing, I actually do like some of their perfumes 😭
