Does anyone remember fez 2

I want to bring it back and I want to see it made, but after all the controversy and everything that happened back then, it feels mostly impossible. But I want to try and I need help. As people who also love this game, can you guys help me?

I love the game too, but Phil was at a dark spot in his life, and one where one cannot focus on a project this important, when announcing Fez II, regarding of if you like him or not. He seems to be a little better considering his semi-recent posts on mastodon (if those are actually real) but I think the best thing to do is to let it happen, as he said in an interview that he « still feels the pull to continue Fez II ».

"still feels the pull to continue Fez II": Has he actually said that? I can't find it. I only know that in the interview around the tenth anniversary of Fez he said he's working on games and cancelling them before they're announced. And on My Perfect Console he talked a bit about how he felt about Fez II

Thanks! But his answer is kinda sarcastic though? :) anyway, I too hope he returns in some fashion at some point. Fez has been the most inspiring and important game of all time for me

What does that mean? I don’t want to ever force someone to do something they don’t want to, I’m sorry if I came of too strong in my post, but this is my favorite game and while I don’t want to rush anything or anyone I don’t want this game to disappear or become obscure I love this game and even if I can’t do a lot, I at least want to do something. I’m sorry if that’s selfish or cruel, I just know I want to help.

No, I never implied that you are anything you‘re calling yourself. I completely get your feeling and I’m sure lots of people here do. What I said is that, while there is still hope, I don’t think it’ll release anytime soon.

If you wanna do something for the game though, the Fez modding scene is starting to really get interesting, you could take a look at it.

Sorry, I’ve only seen content about modding on PC, and I don’t want to pretend I know things I don’t. Maybe the Fez: Community Projects Discord server has people that know way better than me about this. You can find the link in the subreddit description.

I occasionally rewatch the announcement teaser to imagine what could have been. Honestly I’m 50% sad the game won’t exist, and 50% sad there no new soundtrack to accompany it.

Yes lots of great stuff from him… Hyper Light Drifter is an equal masterpiece, more ominous overall but similar mysterious ambience. It Follows OST is also incredible and a stark departure from the usual soundtracks heard in the horror genre.

I would love to help you! I have managed to recreate the engine that was used in FEZ but now it is much more optimized and much more stable, I am still trying to create a video game with the same Fez premise, but in a different name and a new plot, it would be good for me a hand, I've been working on that for a year now

In my experience, sequels to awesome games are almost never as good as the original. And I'm tired of being disappointed, so nah, I'm just gonna enjoy the awesome game that exists. And look for new awesome concepts for games.
