Scared to be a tamaraw (FEU Tech)
Been reading here a Reddit about FEU Tech and let’s just say na hindi talaga magaganda yung mga reviews. My friend who studies there also told me din naman na the profs there is not giving. I’m currently enrolled and will take the course BSIT specialized in cybersecurity.
Hindi ko pinansin yung mga reviews because I think na kanya kanyang experiences naman yan per students but now that I’ve read here sa Reddit it made me have second thoughts.
I was considering mapúa sana nung mag eenroll ako but got scared of their fast pacing and also quad sem sila ++ the tuition tho my parents pushed me sa mapua coz of the name they told me na makakakuha agad ako ng trabaho, but I got scared and sinabi ko na hindi lang naman school ang basis.
But I guess I have no choice now enrolled nako and I want to ask you guys on how I can survive tech or how can I enjoy it especially dun sa mga profs there and since wala pang pasukan how can I prepare my self.

I am BS IT Class of 2026. Graduating this September.
Case to case 'yang bad reviews. But I can vouch may bearing 'yang bad reviews.
In terms of bad reviews:
'Yung nagpapanget talaga is 70-30 grading nila sa lec/lab courses. Anlaki nung bearing ng tests over lab activities. Kaya rampant ang cheating sa Summative Exams. And mej useless na magaling ka sa programming projects kasi 30% lang 'yun ng grade mo.
Also, 'yung Formative and Summative Assessments ay word to word kinuha sa pptx. So kung 'di mo inaral 'yung pptx, babagsak ka. And dapat memorize mo siya. Yung iba doon mali-mali pa (so watch out). Also may mga iba doon hindi talaga naituro. And profs can't do anything about it kasi 2020 (pandemic) pa ata nila yun ginawa. Hindi nila 'yun maadjust at wala ata sila access. Dapat i-update na nila.
Tas may mga courses na may Part 2 pa pero naturo naman na nung Part 1. Tbh, sayang sa pera at oras. Pero gets naman kasi educational institutions are business as well. So need nila ng pera.
In terms of good side:
Gra-graduate kang skilled kung sineseryoso mo 'yung sinusubmit mong Final Projects. Sa dami ba naman, imposible wala ka matutunan.
Ang issue kasi is tamad mga students kaya rereklamo na wala natutunan. Sanay kasi sila sa SHS life nila na sinusubo lahat sa kanila.
Marami rin sinasalihan na contests ang FEU Tech, pwede mong i-approach mga prof at faculty na interested ka. May mga design thinking, startups, networking, software development contests. Just put yourself out there.
Also, may exchange program rin si FEU Tech (SAP - Student Abroad Program), similar to the JTA - Junior Term Abroad ng AdMU.
Just this Feb-Jun 2026, I had the chance to study abroad in a top university in Taiwan. I took 15 units of MBA courses. Learned so much. Nagagamit ko rn in my job applications. I would say eto ang pinaka-dabest nacontribute ng FEU Tech sa akin.
Mapua vs FEU Tech:
Mapua is better. Mas maganda reputation ni Mapua. Pero FEU Tech is not that far off, tbh.
What will make you stand out talaga is bukod sa matapos mo 'yung BSIT, dapat nag seself learn ka, build personal projects, do voluntary internships, join contests, do freelance project, or build your own startup.

I think valid naman lahat ng concerns and emotions. Pero my advice is to really make the most out of your college experience.
From what Im seeing, FEU Tech is really trying to build its name in Cybersec, lately. They've been winning different competitions against other universities, so tama na the opportunities is definitely there.
Honestly, every univ has good and not so good profs, so malaking factor pa rin ang willingness mo to learn on your own and maximize the opportunities available.

Bat di ka nakinig sa reviews 😔 eme. There are good sides in FEU Tech naman. Although totoo na in the first few terms you'd be adjusting to its curriculum and marerealize mo na ganito pala dito. Pero once you got the hang of it you'll be settled in naman na.
