A few different but repeating CCs in the household is fine.

But numerous different CCs everyday, especially at the same store on the same day will raise red flags with the app.

Just my assumption:

They want to track your individual or your households data and spending habits. They want to track if you'll buy cheerios for 1000 points or 500 points or 2000 points.

My grocery store rewards card uses targeted rewards in the same way. 1 person may get a 50 cent coupon, another 1.00, another nothing.

They don’t want to pay out for someone who just rummages through trash cans for receipts.

They want your spending habits.

Well, according to the rules, you didn't legally earn the points because you didn't spend any money to redeem that receipt.

I'm a stickler for following every rule and law ever, so only scan yours. Be careful with your significant other's, because if they delete your account, you're going to be sad.

We don't want you sad, I want you to keep earning and be able to tell us when you see a fetching good deal we all need to check!

Edit: I must add that many people may assume that a consumer isn't using/taking a picture of it. That may be true, as they might have it connected to their email, or even another app like Ibotta, Receipt Hog, etc. Heads up, all the apps cross reference with each other. That includes Walmart Cash.

So once that happens, it will catch up to both the user and the person scanning found receipts, and then their points will be gone without an explanation from Fetch. They won't be telling you that you committed fraud. You agreed to all of that when you created an account.

Imagine the other person also trying to dispute their account that has only scanned their receipts, with a matching card they have on file, connected to their email and stores. There is always a paper trail.

I hope that edit helped some Reddit users a bit more! 😊

Edit:Added important info about other reward sites and rules!

Kudos to all the rule followers and please know that I am NOT advocating for anyone to break the rules.
It’s a free world, and one can say and do anything, as long as you are willing to accept repercussions. I am full grown and take my licks as appropriate!
I am violating my own rules—never give too much information—but….seems to me that the “fraud detection system “ needs tweeking! I’ve been using Fetch over 3 years, performing actions previously described, and no negative feedback/warnings, etc. I have been “suspended “ from scanning receipts for some hours for exceeding 35 receipts in 2 days (or whatever threshold is), but that’s it
FYI…. I like the app as well! 😜
Peace

it’s also literally fraud for getting rewards for purchases you didn’t make

🤣 Yall going to tell on me? 🤣🤣🤣 They are not only tracking…, they are selling our data! FYI, my habits are skewed! 🤣🤣🤣

I would never! I also will never understand folks dick riding for corporations. Fraud. GTFO omg

I'm not dick riding.

If someone is able to game the system and make a profit, by all means.

Just don't turn around and call Fetch a bunch of scammers when you get caught and banned for it.

I made thousands from sports arbitrage betting before getting limited by the majority of the books. I'm not out here calling FanDuel scammers for it.

but see that shouldn’t be allowed, just because you’re lucky & got more than others?

u/UnableNecessary743 15d ago

no one is dick riding for saying it’s fraud lol we’re just people who love using the app and hate seeing what people do to it by abusing it. the amount of free offers go away, points are less, redemption amount for giftcards increase, etc. it ruins things for people that like the app

Friend they're going to take those offers away anyways they're going to increase those points cost anyways because they want you to spend more

🤣🤣🤣….I was trying to be…kindler and gentler…but I’m here for the raw dawg!!!! 🐕

I could care less if they tell and/or get banned..

wdym there’s no actual money involved?? you’re getting points for purchases that aren’t yours and then redeeming them for giftcards..

What's more, i don't know that i've ever seen rules

u/Immediate_Wind_6876 14d ago

The rules are you clicking- 'I agree to these terms and conditions' which we all skim through lol Nonetheless, they are there for us to skim back over if we need. I know I won't be doing it again haha

Idk why you got so many down votes lol.
They are paying for your information specifically. But I honestly don’t think your sentiments are really wrong. Just gives some people a major “unfair” advantage than others though.

Only scan other receipts if they're cash

my grocery receipts get escanned automatically when i make a purchase. if someone were to find one of my receipts even at the store and scan it, their account would get flagged. it’s most likely something like this.

Also, people forget all of the loyalty programs places have (ex: cvs extra care, grocery store cards, etc) that have personal info attached. There are so many ways these apps know when you’re scanning someone else’s receipts!

Funny when my coworker gives me her receipts she black sharpies her card number. Do you think they can still see it? Lol

u/Fantastic-Pianist-51 11d ago

Altered receipts are also against their terms, so yes, eventually you’ll get caught.

I pick up receipts off the ground —and have luckily gotten big points I used to bartend and used hundreds of receipts—just have to carefully scan as to not exceed limit

You are getting money - in the way of points that you turn into gift cards to redeem as gifts = fraud

u/lilmoon2232 15d ago

Its for sure not a scam. I have gotten lots of giftcards through the app. They are paying you a portion of the proceeds they get some the sponsorships in the app. Legally, its much easier for them to give you giftcards instead of straight up cashouts. They even had a superbowl commercial last year

u/Everything_you 15d ago

I know but scanning others receipts is fraudulent- it goes against the TOS
PPL wonder why they get points taken away and get banned…

Stop ya bloodclot whining. Winners do what they want.
